I never even consider it a political statement, just the location where this virus originated, which for whatever reason is taboo. You can look at many sites that confirm where it came from, all I've seen say Wuhan, China. Everyone can choose to call it what they want.
This site covers it very well:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timel...irus_pandemic_in_November_2019_–_January_2020
China is a hotspot for virus: https://www.who.int/csr/don/archive/country/chn/en/
Well know fact that has not been addressed, but this is not the place to do so. So won't post about this again.

In the last 24 hours the number of new deaths dropped, dramatically. Don't know if they really did, or whether we're dealing with reporting delays. Now, one data point doesn't make a trend, so we enter the number and wait to see what tomorrow brings. Needless to say the projection forward dropped exponentially.

This was sent to me from a boat builder, so I am making it marine related ;-)

"Korea is evidently the world champion country dealing with COVID-19.
The MD being interviewed is the leading Korean expert - making him likely the best guy in the world to learn from.
Perspective on where it came from, who it kills and doesn't - and why Korea was so successful.
He was also the lead MD in the sister viruses, hence knows his stuff."

For the five previous years deaths per week for the entire year. And this year in green for the first two and one half months. Each year Jan 1. about 57,000 per week die, year after year. By the end of the year 55,000 per week die, year after year. Thanksgiving, cold weather, Christmas, New Year. Typical. For a variety of reasons. By mid summer about 50,000 per week die, year after year. Nothing really stands out from that graph. 2017 more deaths than normal but no appreciably so. 2015 fewer deaths but not appreciably fewer. 2018 began with somewhat more deaths than normal but then finished with about normal.

2020 begins with about normal number of deaths per week but then abnormal steep drop and now number of deaths per week about the low point as normally reached only during summer.

That appears correct., but it is not forward looking. Ironically our social distancing is also cutting back the spread of the usual suspects. Again, the US is, according to the scientists, just starting the steep part of the curve. the prognosis is for it to go way up, soon. That said...... there are indications, at this point still only statistical anomalies, that it may be slowing.

When an area gets hit hard, like NY, people start taking it seriously. Till then they don't believe it'll happen to them. Our young people need to somehow be made to understand that it'll hit most of the country eventually. Even the young and strong will get it, and they'll certainly carry and spread it. Granted it may not kill them, but they sure won't enjoy it, and they will kill their parents and grand parents and their friends little babies who are all not so strong. They also need to understand that there is no cure or vaccine and there may not be for many years to come. That video of the Korean doctor is boring, but very informative. Someone needs to boil that info down to a 2 minute PSA aimed at the kids since that's the extent of their attention span.

Today it was confirmed that yesterdays suspiciously low number indeed did not include some of the New York State reporting, which is a large(r) number today. I have now also included the increase, absolute and as a percentage, of the per state numbers.

A study found that this drop was mainly due to people being told to wash their hands correctly.

And they're driving less. Especially home from the restaurant/bar half cocked.

University of Washington’s Health and Medical Center is posting updated charts based on current analytical models, a much better presentation than spreadsheet numbers:
