    Updating this thread...

DJI Goggles and Occusync system arrived. Chose to build an Armattan Chameleon because of the integrated aluminum camera cage. Had to MacGyver a platform to house the Occusync receiver underneath the drone. Should provide adequate protection, but time will tell. Conducted two flight tests and one flight crash today. The image clarity with the Occusync system is incredible, a quantum leap over analogue. It's as if your eyeballs are onboard the drone.

Flight characteristics seem good to me, but I have no reference. This is the 2nd drone I've flown. If you are inclined, I'll send you a list of components used to get airborne.

DJI Race Edition goggles. It occurred to me these goggles and the camera/receiver system could be mounted an an R/C submersible for inspecting hulls and running gear. Of course, a mask and willing diver is less complicated. Unless the diver is of the curvier persuasion. ;)

Figured I d updated this old thread... after loosing two DJI spark (one flew away and one splashed on take off) I switched to a Parrot Anafi. Very similar to the Spark in price and capabilities plus 4K video and better stabilization in sports mode

    This was shot with Anafi

I ve also been using a waterproof SwellPro Spry. Very solid, nicely built, built in screen on the controller and able to take off and land from the water. Great for pictures but useless for video as the gimbal isn’t stabilized.

Despite the negative reactions to rudely used drones, charter guests are thrilled to get a stick with bird eyes view of their good times.

Came across a masterpiece of FPV flight and video editing. A nice 2 minute escape from the gravity of pandemics...

Yes, very good and art like.

I wonder,, How many of his drones went splat?? How many were lost as un-recoverable after the splats?

Drones used for racing are pretty indestructible. Usually just a prop change and you're back in the air. Very different from consumer video drones such as DJI's Phantom, Mavic, Spark, etc., all of which could be costly after an unscheduled landing.

I m not too concerned about hitting stuff when flying from the boat or even a beach. Problem is if the drone malfunctions and ends up in the drink. :(

there are a few water proof drones on the market. I ve tried the Spry which is well built but less range and flight than my Anafi. The biggest flaw is the unstabilized camera make it useless for video Too bad...

We have a Spark and it's been amazing and we've had no issues with it for well over a year now. No enexpected adventures. Just don't get the controller too close to your helm electronics displays. But it takes some AMAZING videos. We have the Phantom 4 on another boat and it too has taken some amazing videos but is rather bulky to keep on a yacht.

I ve had two sparks failure. One flew away over compass and the second ones crashed back down on take off. Ended up in the water. I switched to Anafi almost two years ago

another with Spark is that it is not stabilized in sports mode. So if you want to get action footage on guests on a jet ski, tubing etc it s useless

I think your one over compass was shot down (with a shotgun) and is mounted on the wall of their dock house. Tucker has a strong hate for drones flying over his island. :D

i don’t think think so. It was up the creek by the bridge to nowhere when I lost signal. Funny... he hates drones but he loves posting footage people take off his island :)
