Westport for Pacific cruising?

A 130' Westport's 3000 mile range will get you from the US west coast to Hawaii, and pretty much anywhere else after that. And the 6'6" draft will not restrict you much if at all on the Pacific side. Is that what you are asking?

Yep that 172 is a nice design. They were coming out with a 45m as well but haven’t seen any recent developments on that one.

Having run both, I would prefer the 164' if I was going to the South Pac. For that kind of cruising I think bigger is better! The 130 can certainly do it, I pushed mine to the limit several times weather wise and I never felt I was in danger.
My owners on the 130 were thinking of moving up and one of the concerns was dockage, in our cruising area Maine to Carib, I would say about 10% of our usual stops would not be available at the 164' size.

I've also run both, and have cruised Alaska and the South Pacific with a 164'. There is no comparison between the 130 and 164 in volume, comfort, working and storage space. I don't think the 130' is up to the task for extended cruising off the beaten path, but wouldn't hesitate with the 164'.

Having cruised the west coast of central america up to SE Alaska on a 130' I can advise that you plan your main engine oil change services in advance. Most pre 2009 130' Westport's do not hold enough dirty lube oil for a complete main engine service. The MTU 4000's typically have a 55USG oil sump and the dirty lube oil tank capacity if memory serves correctly is around 60USG.

Not difficult but an added logistic to a trip like your thinking about. Easy to do dockside with the local outfit supplying the oil and empty barrels for the dirty lube.
