We're spoiled by living on the coast but to people in many places a 4 to 6 hour drive to the coast is normal. Orlando is less than 50 miles from the East Coast and 85 miles from Tampa, so it's simply a matter of choosing a coast. So, it's perspective. Not close compared to you, but very close compared to most people.

It's an hour drive. Not like you're driving to Miami.

I met a guy once who had his house in Ocala and his boat down in fort Lauderdale. And I just considered that the most insane drive ever.

Not if you have a small plane. heehehehe. But hey, the Brightline might be going to Orlando any day now. hehehe The owner I was speaking of keeps his boat in the Daytona area, BUT, you couldn't keep a yacht the size you're looking at, the only inlet good enough to support it would be Ft. Pierce IMO.

My ex wife made me sell my boat also, took me 4 years and bought a bigger better boat. The best part was my son was young about 5 or 6yrs old and wanted to invite his mom on the new boat. I being slightly vindictive said sure. Then asked my mom to come along so the ex could not say I did anything to her. Boy should have seen her face when she stepped on board. Priceless. John it may take you some time but you'll have the last laugh. Best of luck on your choice.

So, I heard back on the offer they rejected it. So I have decided that I'm going to go to the show and see what's out there. I have been also taking a look at what allied has listed that they're going to have at the show and they've got or wonderful Pershing and a wonderful Ferretti customline that I kind of like.

I want to thank everybody for their support. It's been really nice. I'm driving into some more options and seeing really what's out there.

    106 or 120?
I assume it isn't one of the Navettas, because I understood you are interested in something capable also of some speed.
Anyway, in that size bracket, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't regret checking out also the Sanlorenzo SL106/SL118.

Aha, I was only thinking of the current Custom Line.
The comparable SL model of that vintage was the SL94.
Stunning boat, of which I would think they should have sold some also in the US, but no idea about how easily they can be found (or not), sorry.

    Like this one?

The used market is better than I thought. Most others I talked to about new have said between 6-9 month build times, so it really seems that I should lean to the brokered market if I want to make this season.

    Exactly.
And even if it's always a bit of a gamble to judge based on photos alone, she does look like a beautiful one indeed.
I'm saying this because the builder offers a degree of customization which is among the highest you can find.
So, depending on the taste of the first owner, a very good boat can either become even better, or be somewhat ruined.
Should you decide to go see her, my bet is that you won't be disappointed.
Looking forward to hearing your impressions!

Given that Sunseeker just announced the replacement for the 95, that should probably be helpful for you looking at that model.

Have you looked at the CL 100, or SL 106 that is for sale in S. Florida? I do like the Dominator's as well, in terms of aesthetic's but have never ran one. The Monte Carlo's are nice as well and have ran a couple over to the Bahamas before. The OA 100's and 90's are great as well and laid out very well for entertaining.

I haven't considered those models. I'm looking for owner operator size, and I haven't quite done anything over a hundred feet yet. So, I have no clue if it's something I can handle. But, I'm going to look up those models now.

I've lined up six boats to look at so far with my new broker (thanks to those that altered me about another broker) and he's added another 2 that he wants me to consider. It'll be a fun few days of looking and tossing ideas. He also said he's going to keep looking for others, but in the meantime if someone here thinks there's one that I should consider, send it on over.

    Thanks everyone.

Good Luck. Since you enjoyed your Horizon 84 so much, have you looked at the Horizon E88? I'm sure your broker has given you lots of listings to consider, and good luck. Certainly fun to see someone heading back into Yacht Ownership for the true passion of it.

95' is one hell of a large yacht for an owner-operator to operate. I would hope you plan on at least employing a full time mate/engineer and a full time stewardess. I don't know of hardly any insurance companies that would insurance an owner operator on that size unless they had a USCG 200 GRT master.

I do have a first mate I employ, as well as a deckhand. They've gotten me by so far, so I enjoy their company. I also attended classes at Northeast Maritime Institute. So, while I'm not excessively qualified, I'm about there for my happiness.

But, yes, a first mate and a deckhand are a must.

Good Luck on your search, and will certainly be interesting to hear what you find at the Miami Show. I'm getting ready to book my Tix to head down as well, as I only got very limited time at FLIBS this year.

Yes, I would check with your insurance broker to see if you can get it insured without a full time captain especially if it will be in Florida during hurricane season.
