Since the ocean is the ultimate equalizer, I am looking at what the real, if any, benefits of a plumb bow are, other than a designer's pen stroke on paper. When you get caught outside and have to slug your way home stuff - imo a plumb bow can be a detriment in a following sea at those "slug it out speeds' as they can have a greater tendency to dig/bow steer /broach.
I have not been here in a plumb bow hull. I have a feeling if the keel is shorter than wave spacing, it's going to be ugly.
Not to mention your spine and teeth.... Not seeking to hi jack the thread but a lot has to do with wave period. The shorter sea periods with 3-4' height in LI sound will jar your molars out, where a 10 second period of 6-8' of Montauk are manageable. Admittedly the shape of the seas, running with or against a wind for instance, has its own affect.
