I just purchased my 2004 59' Marquis in December. The port fuel gauge does not work. I am told it is the sender but to replace it you need to cut a hole in the floor. The ones they put in were supposedly flexible and now changed to a rigid sender which does not give enough head space to replace. Anyone have any knowledge or experience on this
I replaced mine...yes we had to drill a hole in the floor to do it. Not a big deal because it is under a moveable couch. Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this.
I just bought a Marquis 59 with this same problem. Was it an expensive fix? Both port and stbd on mine need to be replaced! Where did they drill the hole in the floor relative to the tank? In other words, where is the sensor on the top of the tank...? Anthony
If you are replacing both....they will have to drill a hole beneath the starboard salon couch and port salon couch/seating. The hole has to be drilled directly above the current sender on the top of the tanks. It is not expensive or difficult.
You can see the top of the sender on the top of the tank..the hard part is lining it up in order to drill the hole in the right place....measure twice...maybe 3 times...before drilling.
Got it. Thanks so much for the response! We're excited about the boat and have a lot of learning ahead.
Enjoy...feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Just sold mine a few months ago. On to new adventures.
