Hi All... I'm new, here... I found this forum, looking around for more informations about MC27Offshorer superfast, as I own it and I'm a real enthousiast of its performances and concept. I've to say that Chain Drives has no make, but Monaco Power, the same company that "rebuilded" and tuned the original G.M. Engines up to 310 Hp. Anyway, the 27 was not built at RAM, as someone state above, but by the company "Mare e Sole" in Bevera di Ventimiglia, a small village near the Italian border to Franch... Hope to help those of you looking for the thruth about this swimming dream ... Pleased to join here!!

Amazingly cool boat style and concept, also really like the transmission layout combined with the stepps.
Does anyone have any reliable weight/power/speed data for these boats?

It is hard stretch and I am tied at the moment, but I had a catalogue for the 30 with some performance numbers.

Also Cantieri di Sarnico who had a lot of Riva and Monte Carlo workers in there book should be able to give some information, since they also produced the 32 Montecarlo for some time. Another evolution of the 27/30 model

    Hi Heresjohn and others,
I am in the process of restoring a Monte Carlo Offshorer 30.
This one seems to be a little different in that it has been fitted with trim tabs, and has Lip Ship performance written on the stern and on the deck.
I tried emailing Lip Ship in Miami form some history, but my email went ignored.
I am trying to determine if they fitted the trim tabs as an aftermarket item, and if anything tuning was done on the engines (Crusader 454's), since the previous owner claims 70 mph.
Does anyone here know if Lip Ship imported these boats back in the days?
Any information is welcome. Feel free to PM me.

I spent some time with Cal Connell before he passed away over the last decade. The chain drives were industrial-based and assembled for use with the Crusader Monaco Power 310 horse Corvette based engines. My gear boxes are Velvet Drive and the V Drives are I believe Crusader though they might be BPM. My boat is in a slow restoration process. I have a lot of info from Monaco Boat Service if anyone is interested. Also looking for partners to share production cost of new CalCorp special thermostat housings at Wolverine Brass in Detroit.

    hello all
happy that i finally found a place where people talk about this iconic boat.
Iam lucky enough to own a 30' model from 1985, which has spent some time as a tender on a superyacht in the us then shipped back to France, baddly stored, so did an overhaul of the electrics etc.....
the boat was fitted with twin 350's when it was in the US, poor things with twin barrels cannot push the boat as i excpect, so they will have to go.
Iam lucky to live on the riviera, with quite a few examples around, I have gathered some info also, since we have FRANCE HELICES nearby Cannes who's owner participated in the drivetrain development, down to the props, they still make most parts for it.......
Time goes by and i have decided to redo it properly having totally fallen in love with it.
There will be a few modern touches involved.
    Will post pictures soon.

A friend of mine keep stelling about the Monte Carlo Offshore 30 he had years ago, with twin Yanmar diesels and two-stage gearboxes. From what he tells these boats must be brutal beasts but with fine handling characteristics. He kept it on the Flensburg Fjord, but decided that that Piece of water was too small for it since he made the run through the Fjord within a few minutes and one side to another was a mater of 40 seconds. Even a trip to Sonderburg in Denmark (26nm from Flensburg) was disapointingly short.
I believe these boats are best with a really huge piece of protected water at your front door...

Actually they were designed to get decent levels of comfort on the choppy med sea for the wealthy who were disapointed by the flat bottom of the wooden riva's...... So no need for protected waters!

I´m Aware that these boats can handle a bit of chop very well, but going that fast (up to 50 kts with some versions) with so me real waves seems scary to me... :D

Ive never done 50kt with mine but 30 in choppy seas was like a motorway cruise, no other boat could crz in such comfort at this speed, even old seamen who were riding along were astonished by how well the hull was cutting through the waves and the steps cushioning the rebounds!
Orth mentioning also that the boat is quite well built.... It weighs a lot and it helps compared to modern plastic day boats

Long time since someone has posted here. Been rebuilding my MC30 for almost 2 years now and 90% done. Hull number 296. Kept fully original and replaced pretty much everything that could be found with original parts. Have lots of info if people are interested!
I seem to see more and more of these getting restored
