Just looked up the mast height of the Bluenose II and her maim mast is 38.4 M (126')
The air draft for the Seaway is 35 M (114)
They must be able to lower part of mast ?
Air draft for Blue Water bridge in Sarnia is 71 M (232')
I took a sailboat up canal a few weeks ago with an air draft of 110' so they had to remove antennas.

NEW LOCK SCHEDULE
Well today was the start of the new lock schedule for the Welland Canal.
As I thought it would not work.
At 08:45 they told the sailboat to enter lock one, as they were approaching lock they told him to return to the pleasure craft dock as they had two commercial ships to take up.
Commercial ships pay $ 23,000 and yacht pays $ 200.00 you no who will go first.

I have a down bound trip tomorrow will see what happens.

Did a down bound yesterday and they started at 9 am but I would still report in at 7 am as students do not start until 8 am and this morning they had regular crew started us a 07:30 to get us started as a commercial ship was calling in at 7:45 am and at lock two the students took over.
I am off to Halifax July 30/19 for ten days have a safe trip.

Today another boat load of boats through the Welland Canal, both are 2020 - 74' Predator & 50' Predator, few days ago a another ship had an Absolute on board I missed that one.
Was talking to the dealer today and I told him it was like the old days where they would bring around twenty new Vikings and Sunseekers up the canal every year.
He said this year was a record year.
They now bring the yachts from over seas direct to Cleveland, they use to unload them in New Jersey and then up the Erie Canal and the Welland Canal to Cleveland.

That Time Of Year Again
The Erie Canal closes October 16/19 for the season.
Yachts are heading south through the Welland Canal to the Erie Canal, I have been very busy the last few weeks.
This July the seaway has started down bounds on Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday
up bounds Sunday - Monday - Wednesday - Fridays and must be checked in by 09:00 hrs day of transit.
This has improved the staring times but because of every other day service there have been many yachts in the lock causing to rafting three deep, down bound rafting is no problem because there in no turbulence but not looking forward to up bound trips in the spring because of rafting as there is a lot of turbulence, they will only raft two deep while going up bound the large yacht better have good fenders. One other thing the lines men travel travel with their vehicles to every lock with you making you trip about two hours longer

Yanneke Too 114'

She arrived a few weeks ago in Port Dalhousie a small town two miles west of Welland Canal on Lake Ontario.
Rumour has it will be spending the winter there in the water, if so will get some pictures in January.
She did spend the summer in Montreal.
