My '80 is balsa cored deck with a plate where the chair was. I thought they were plywood in earlier models but your picture is balsa for sure.

    Hi Shawn,

Mike from "Post Time", Block Island here. My my hull was damaged in a storm last October and I'm going to have the entire hull repainted. I thought that it would be a good idea to fill some of the engine room vents and install or have fabricated one engine room vent. I would appreciate any guidance you would be able to give me here. I'm looking to see if there are any vents/engine boxes that can be purchased or do we have to fabricate something. Thanks.

Hi Mike: I made mine, I got rid if the three that a standard. I built mine to look like the 80s version. I built a glass box and drilled 5 holes in the top. On the outside I used PVC pipe cut it on half made the design I wanted. I poured West Epoxy in the form and put stainless bolts in it. Then I was able to drill holes on the side of the hull and bolt it up.

    Thanks Shawn,
Do you have a close-up pics you can share with me and also the dimensions of the final intake and box and the sitze of the holes on the top? I assume you're not getting a water intrusion. How is that working for you? Thanks again.

Had a chance to bring the boat out the last couple of weekends. We started with back to back weekends hanging out at the barrier islands off the coast of Mississippi and then a quick snapper trip with a few good friends and their sons. IMG_0355.jpg IMG_0326.jpg

Hi Daniel you have really done on hell of a super great job with you boat! Your wood work skills are really , really good. Which mine are not...
The whole boat shows your attention to detail. Again great job. Now enjoy your boat! Which I see you are.

Hi Shawn. Looking to purchase a 77 Post well-maintained. 671 Detroit naturals with about 3000 hours. What can we expect from these engines. How long can these engines go. Also do Post boats roll when moving. How stable are they. We boat on moorings vs slip.

As far as the motors go, they are just getting broken in...671n will run for a long time IF maintain properly and on schedule. You can get another 3000 hours out of them . They can be rebuilt still with not a whole lot of expense compared to modern day engines, which some can not be rebuilt at all.
DD mechanics are getting harder to find , but every town still seems to have a good one around . You just have to search them out .
