This is one of my old concepts after a ‘refit’ including a 6 meter stretch and a new color. Allow me to introduce ‘CHOCOLATE’.
To boldly go… 85 m Explorer concept. 8 000+ NM range, Polar Ice class PC2, electric hybrid powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), power-saving technology ‘Green Pilot’. Certified Helicopter operations (CAP 437) and enclosed hangar for two helicopters. Dive center (scuba and sub with tri-mix facilities). On the deck below the hangar you will find a large garage for tenders, SUV’s, cars, snowmobiles, electric scooters... Aft you have the large beach club area at sea level with open air pool and the possibility to enclose the entire area for the subzero pool parties (under the helipad). There is also a large sky lounge with a 360 view. Naturally you have the possibility to bring along scientists for some serious remote exploration and research.
Yes, I really like the overall appearance of the offshore supply ships. For this particular concept I was inspired by the modern Finnish icebreakers with a touch of the offshore supply ships on the North Sea but the inspiration for the entire front silhouette actually came from my Jet Ski
Explorer: to make it look more different from Ragnar you could replace the bow with an Ulstein X-Bow (not the pointy CX version, but something along the lines of an SX121), although Polar Class PC 2 is probably not feasible with an X-Bow. Maybe PC 5?
Nah, I believe my forward profile is different enough with the backswept superstructure and slanting nose, besides, what’s the point if I change the forward profile and it started to remind you of another existing one? I had not seen the Ragnar project before but if you check the profiles of most new Jet Skis, you will find more resemblance, I’m sticking with it.
The top and middle designs have been through updates but the bottom one is new and homage to the 100+ year old ship design.
My neo-classic design might even work with a schooner rig? Disclaimer: I should point out to my antagonists that you might find similar rigging on other existing designs and I’m not changing it on account of that. Oh, and that goes for the choice of color as well
Gorgeous!! That first specimen reminds me of a blend of "Nero" and "Talitha" with a whole lot of modern vibes going on.
I see your point and agree. The many possibilities she offers for cruising in remote areas makes one dream!
This design is amazing! I love it. What would the length be for this one? Either way very impressive. The modern touch to your classic design yachts are very nice. More of your projects should be built!
To better illustrate the origin of the front profile on the Explorer concept, I have made a Jet Ski design. In this Jet Ski design I kept the louvres that cover the starboard tender on the Explorer and made a ventilation grid. Replace the seat with a helipad and you are back to the Explorer design
