Replacing SeaLand toilets

    I have the Magnum Opus electronic toilets. They have worked great but I have a circuit boat that is flakey in one and parts aren't available. I think this was a pretty popular model. What has anyone replaced them with? 24v and looking for as close to a drop in as possible. Thanks

    Sealand doesnt have the boards? I m surprised, they sold a lot of these heads...

    Why dont you get rid of the board altogether. Wire the vac tank switch to the pump like a regular VF, connect the flushing handle to a couple of relays to activate the ball valve and water valve... i used to run a boat with 4 of these and even though i always carried a spare board, byoassing them with relays was always an option i considered

    I would love to get rid of the board and just have a switch set for the ball valve and the water. I'm not sure how to do it though.

    I have those in a yacht I manage, I may have a circuit board, but not sure when I am going to that boat to look. We did put a new sealand toilet in and it was a direct fit, just connect power, mount on existing base in the floor, run the wire to the different flush panel. I could find out the model as well. How do you know your circuit board is bad? Have you tried disconnecting power to everything?

    The tank, pump, and vacuum switch are all perfect. The water solenoid works fine and the ball valve is fine. I can see the logic LED's on the board signal that it's getting the call to fill or close the valve but nothing happens. Probably the relays on the board. When I swap the board from the other head it works fine.

    If you could sell me the other board that would be great and really helpful if you could figure out the drop in replacement. let me know. Thank you!

    If you can’t find a board here is I fix it

    Use two basic relays, one for the ball valve and one for the water valve. The flush handles has two micro switches if I remember correctly. One triggering the water valve only in the up position and one triggering both valves in the down position. Wire the up switch to trigger the water valve relay, wire tr down switch to trigger both.

    Finally separately send power to the pump via the vacuum switch on the tank.

    You could also replicate the service switch by adding a toggle that will only trigger the ball valve.

    $20 and bullet proof

    You know the system well. That's exactly how it's laid out.

    I need to figure out how it gets the call to close the valve.

    I think it's the two relays on the board. I may try and get those replaces if I can find someone that does board level repair. Failing that, two switches or a drop in replacement although nothing ever seems to be plug and play. :)

    I believe the ball valve closes when power is turned off but you may want to check that. If not another relay will do the trick

    It is bulletproof, BUT, the circuit board times it so that the bottom valve (Which has a slight delay) opens before the water valve opens.

    My owner doesn't want to sell his spare circuit board, but he stated that he was at the Miami show and they have a direct replacement now that looks exactly like the old one. I will try to dig up the model of the toilet that was a direct replacement. I would call Environmental Marine (Sealand dealer) in Fort Lauderdale and ask them which new model (s) replace the magnus opus.

    The timing maybe a refinement but with a regular pedal operated VF there is no difference. Press the pedal and the ball valve opens and the water comes on simultaneously

    Follow up- I ended up finding someone in the Northwest that had boards that had been bench tested after they were removed. List was $775 each and they sold 2 of them to me for $225 each. 5 minute swap and the head works fine. A good thing as they are in perfect cosmetic shape. The swap out head is About $1600 discounted. I got very lucky as I'm 24vdc and the 12vdc units are unobtainable. Common unit in RV's.

    The company I got them from is Marine Sanitation in Seattle. Absolutely A+ people. They did more than they said they would do for a fair price.

    Well, the one in the yacht I manage looked perfect until it split the bowl in half when it flushed one day! But, I would say that that is an extremely rare event.
