Does anyone know of a delivery service/vendor in Ft Lauderdale area that can deliver a house size fridge on board? Not a mega yacht - 65' Trawler at a private dock but double door access to salon that contains the galley.
Most appliance stores offer delivery although typically curb side. Some will bring inside... I usually get it curbside and bring it on myself with a friends help if needed.
Unfortunately, thought I had on-board installation all arranged with the store before I left Lauderdale to return home to Ga. - even confirmed on board delivery with the delivery dept before leaving. Get home and get a call that Nope- we will drop off to the curb. Now trying to arrange something remotely and as not from the area, don't have buddies there who can fill in. FUBAR
Same thing happened to us w/ Home Depot; fortunate to have dock neighbors willing to help. Try Best Buy, they indicate that they will install items even if not bought from them, although I can't confirm they'll do boats.
Do you not have a crane on the boat? I would think on a boat that size you would. If so, have it delivered in box to dock and then use your crane to put it on the deck. From there, just an appliance truck or furniture dolly in. Leave in it's full packing as from the factory until you have it on the boat.
Definitely don't order it for delivery when either you or your representative isn't there. I'm assuming you hadn't contracted for installation?
Most davits are on the top deck. It s nearly impossible to use it to swing a large load on a covered aft deck. A fridge isn’t that heavy even a big one. I loaded a fairly large French door fridge on the aft deck of my 53 Hatt by myself a couple of years ago. Brought it along side, tipped it on the railing, got on the boat and tilted it in. No big deal.
Call a moving company. There are a ton if small companies in S.Fl. Have them pick it up and deliver to boat. We use them for everything remotely large as the builder of our condo installed an undersized front door making it very difficult for furniture delivery. They've never failed to get it through the door.
Sears delivered my new washer to the boat. I just paid the delivery guys $150 cash to get the old one out and off and the new one in. Total PITA for them and worth every penny of the $150.
We used these guys that specialize in boats. http://firstclassaa.com/ They removed and installed new washer. I think it was $250 plus delivery
I tried the cash offer to the guys that delivered mine from Home Depot, they still wouldn’t do it. You were fortunate.
Yeah most big store delivery services won’t do it. They re on a tight schedule, with trackers etc. plus liability because of all the ... never mind
I had paid an extra $25 at the time of sale for removal and installation. So time was already factored into their delivery schedule.
