Hello, A boat I'm looking at purchasing needs some fiberglass work on the Transom because owner took their lighted name off the back and did a terrible job filling in the holes. There are a total of 16 holes about 40' wide area in total (width of the name). Any recommendations on fiberglass repair here in area?

Have you bought the boat yet?
Quite frankly have him fix his own mess. That's outrageous.

not yet. trying to understand if it's even possible to fix and cost because I would prefer to get it fixed here rather than to have to wait for possibly a below par job again.

40” (inches) hopefully, not 40’ (feet)

I have used CF Boatworks for that kind of work in the past: They are good, but not cheap. http://www.cfboats.com/

A good and exprienced glass guy can fix that easily. The key to match the gel coat assuming it is geocoat and not painted. I have a very good guy here in miami that has done repairs and mods for me over the years. He did a storage hatch on a flybridge a couple of years ago and you cant see its not factory. The gelcoat is a perfect match. I dont think he goes to FLL as he s busy here.

In any case, the seller should get that done. If i was to make an offer on the boat i d build that repair in the offer.

I received a quote from a guy here for $2,200 and he was recommended from the sign company that he's done lots of work for.

these are the recommendation I received for fiberglass repair from the sign company called YachtGraphx.com that does the litup names that I'm thinking of doing on my boat that did the previous owners boat litup name as well:

    Scott May
    $2,200 estimate

    Fiber Glass Tech
    waiting for estimate

I'll let you guys know who I end up using and how it goes.
