OM, An other example of **, uh, ahh, err something wrong.
Again, when these designers and owners are on the inside out they don't see the problem.
I have commented on these problems before. My friend south just beat me to the lead on this OA and probably commented more PC.
However, I'm not PC, That's a stomach turner.

LOL! I'm with you Pascal. This is the first Evan Marshall design I don't love. It's a little out of his wheelhouse.

The best bit is that our very own 'Yacht News' made a spelling mistake and said it was heading to FLIBS, a Boat Sow.

    How very apt.:D

    Yes,, Sadly..

    Whisky Tango Foxtrot?

If Pascal does not mind the hijack of his thread, I would like to hear from others about these new and unusual (to me) designs.

I do realize the next owners are on the inside looking out. I'm sure the ship handles well and has great comfort. I'm not down grading any interior systems.
Just it turns my stomach to look at them.

Anybody else out there getting queasy looking at the new designs?

I'm actually the opposite as they don't bother me at all. We had a new design Sunseeker and at first glance it looked strange but the light in the staterooms was so nice. When I saw the Horizon, my first thought was headroom and the openness of the salon is very nice. We own traditional right now but if one of these unique designs fit our needs from a utility standpoint, we wouldn't hesitate. Volkswagen Beetle. PT Cruiser. Whatever someone wants is fine with us.

I'm sure a different group of people will criticize the Cheoy Lee Bravo 78 for the opposite reason and say it looks like a boat from 20 years ago.

    IMO;
I'm feared your lickings are from the inside looking out.
Those old oval Italian windows are a lil better on the Brovo, The rest of that ship looks great.

Well, when I use the boat I am on it, not looking at it from a distance.

I need to be able to dock or park and as I walked away feel the need to turn around and look.

Disclaimer... in addition to a Hargrave designed 53 Hatteras we currently own a Giugiaro designed Alfa GTV6, a pair of Pininfarina designed Alfa spiders and a Jaguar E-type ... so yes looks and aesthetics are important!

This new generation of boats may be great on the inside but not from 50’ away

Now I was just looking at the PR blurb on the new Cheoy Lee bravo 78.... ok so 1100 hp engines on the 78 footer pretty much means this things is a sorta fast trawler which is why there is no performance data.

Then this gem: “For the extra comfort of the owner and guests there is a flybridge which is partially shaded by a hardtop. On the main deck the saloon and dining areas provide more formal relaxation and entertainment.”

Wow!! What a new concept!!! A covered FB and a saloon/dining area... imagine that !
