I'm missing both exhaust flaps and not having any luck finding replacements. Anyone have a contact? If not, I will have to make them.
Call Carver. I was missing one on my 1987 Mariner and they pointed me in the right direction. I'd give you the name but I cant remember it.
It is literally a thick piece of rubber cut in a circle. Worst case, find some suitable rubber and cut one out!
My 1987 32' Carver Mariner needed new exhaust flaps. 4' with a pin to mount them. I found them at Marine East, they have a web page with online catalog.
What do the flaps do? Stop seawater from going back up a flat/horizontal exhaust tube when in reverse? I've seen flaps used on rivers to stop muskrats from camping out.
Yes or when you slow and the wake comes up on your stern. Depending on the type of exhaust system it could cause the motor to stall or worse.
Also helps direct to water discharge straight out and down, so not to spray on the swim platform/ transom etc. and probably help deflect sound just a little bit.
