Before taking a leap, anyone have any feedback to share on Key West Engine Service (located on Stock Island)? Initially just looking to have some basic maintenance done but like that they are certified for my power plants should I wish to take on anything further.

    Thanks in advance.

No experience, but if this business was previously known as Marine Diesel of the Florida Keys or Marks Marine Diesel located at 7281 Shrimp Rd, check out the review on Active Captain.

Thanks - I had seen that review. Don't believe it's the same place - different address and contact name and Key West Engine looks like it's been at the same location for a good while. I'll continue to ask around locally.

I used the Volvo dealer there, cannot remember the name next to Stock Island Marina Village a few years back and they did a good job.

    For what it's worth...

In the event anyone stumbles upon this thread looking for feedback on Key West Engine, I did end up using them. While my experience was limited to fluid and filter service, I can report that I was very satisfied and would hire them again. They were courteous and professional from first contact. Bob, the tech who did the work for me, is a seasoned pro who was thorough and neat. I found their rates to be fair and the time I was billed for was the time spent on the job. They also have a well-organized shop with a tremendous inventory.

I used them last summer, I had a water pump issue covered under warranty by Cummings. They were were quick to get it fixed, but they kept sending me a bill even though it was covered under warranty took me several phone calls to straighten out. Knowledgeable people but their service rates are a little salty, but then again you are in the keys.
