Doing a little research, it seems that article and the photos appeared in a magazine called " BlueWater Boats and Game Fishing"
    https://www.zinio.com/bluewater-boats-sportsfishing-m7122

Has anyone heard of that mag, or know where it is published, or have a direct contact for them?

Ah, I just found them,...an Aussi publication

The links to that article above about Offshore Hunter were in a PDF format that was too large to attach to this forum,....So if you wish to read the article right now you can find the PDF's attached HERE

I have written several messages to the editor of that BlueWater magazine, and he plans to do a second article on that vessel. AND he is interested in discussing some of my concepts after he finishes a trip to visit an old fishing friend in Tahiti. Looking forward to that.

Probably never will. I hosted one of their writers on a ten day trip to Venezuela a number of years ago. He fished on four of the very best sportfishing boats - caught nearly a ton of white and blue marlin. All he did was complain. Supposedly he wrote the article about the trip, but never saw it in print.

I really like Chris White's design - esp putting the wheel forward of the pilot house. It's too hard to see where you're going when you're in an enclosed cabin. I'm not so crazy about the foil.

    More 'Fishing Under Sail'

I see that Jimmy Buffetts boat has grown from 44 to 50 feet,...and now its been launched.

I keep seeing these multiple references to this vessel being very capable of speed under power and sail,...BUT I am really having a problem determining exactly what she actually has attained in real life????
Does anyone know what the Sea Trials produced??

And now I see she is for sale already? (2.8 million !!)

I'm getting energized to go forward with a smaller 'gamefisher under sail' in the form of a weekender/picnic size,...

...probably not a hot topic on this big boat forum, but we do need SOME sailing content/subject matter.

PS: Ahh, I see that I have already posted a subject thread about that idea,..

How about if we don't enclose that central cabin area at all, but rather provide 360 degree visibility?

And if you were not too crazy about that foil, wait until you see the next foil I'm going to suggest,...its wild,..but very interesting and innovative.

Are we going back to gaff rigged? Certainly seems so.
Unless you put a Go-Pro camera up on the mast, it's very hard to see forward of the pilothouse.
On another matter - which production sail cats have more than a meter of bridge deck clearance?

That might work, but it still slams.
I removed the twin diesels from my 44 custom (no brand) and installed twin 25hp Tohatsus thereby reducing the weight by 100kg per side.

How does it handle in rougher water without daggerboards?

You might have a look thru this article that appeared in Sail magazine,..
    https://www.sailmagazine.com/multihulls/cruising-the-eagle-class-53

There are two models, one with curved daggerboards, one with foils,...

Yeah, but that's racing. Pulling a teaser faster than a billfish can chase just means you don't eat that day

I do realize what you say about 'speedy fishing'. I was NOT suggesting that that development vessel could be used for fishing.

One of my primary interests in that vessel was its rig.
While outwardly seeming complex, I think it could be built in a greatly 'detuned fashion' that might even be made understandable/usable to the non-sailing skipper. It also might make it 'safe' to use by the power oriented shipper in terms of stability, and ultimate 'get home' capability in lieu a second engine and all of the fuel involved for longer distance 'weekending' .

I'm looking at developing a MUCH cheaper and more usable 'weekender' vessel in the 34-38 foot range that could skim the shallows of the Bahamas, the Fl keys, etc. Something that would have been a much more usable vessel than the Surfari that Jimmy Buffett got sold on. ( http://sailingmagazine.net/article-1998-surfari-50.html ). That vessel has its pluses, and is relatively unique design, but its wrong for this 'flats fishing and exploring guy'.

PS: That seawind 1260 I posted the video of above, with a little 'fishing modifications' could have served Buffett's desires for a cost of approx 400k (list price) compared to 2.7 million for the Surfari !!,...and had greater shallow water capabilities.
