Not much to see yet, she looks silver based on on the bow, they may have been going for the same colour as the masts; she is certainly going to look different when she hits the water again.

I can't wait to see how she looks! Hopefully she'll be uncovered soon and we can see

Sailing yacht "A" is still under cover and being worked on. Also some more of the scaffolding has been removed, starting the sailing sea trails in August (this year :)) seems to be pretty unlikely.

Below a screen capture from a public webcam in Kiel as of today at 1400 lcl.

Am I glad, not to be in charge of that build !!!

Agreed, given we only have eleven days of August left sailing sea trials before the end of the month seem unlikely. They have taken away all the scaffolding forward of the main mast thus exposing the foremast and pool.* The really interesting part (the funnel) seems to be a long way from being uncovered. I went back and looked at some of the photos from last year and it does seem there was a lot of work still to be done, especially aft.

*Side note; it seems that a lot of the more experienced owners are going for very private pools and lounging areas. Sailing Yacht A, the new Dilbar and Eclipse all have almost indoor (or completely indoor) pools that offer extreme privacy.

Looking at the Kielcam today, it looks like they have pulled the scaffolding back to a point behind the second mast. But maybe I'm just anxious to see this fascinating thing and the new paint.

It looks like they are removing the scaffolding completely. I am looking forward to see the amount of work being done on this ship during her second time under the scaffolding.

I am really excited to see the progress done too!! Hopefully sea trails will start soon and we can see what she looks like finished.

The old 'A' is currently sailing on the north sea. I bet she's meeting her bigger sister soon...

I just really want to see SY A under sail. Since she's sail assisted, does that mean that it's pretty much impossible to operate just under sail albeit with generators running?

Same here. Hopefully SY A can be operated just under sail... We will see though.

I hope it is not true what I am seeing here.

    Detail view of SY A.jpg

Have a look under at the exhaust stack behind the second boom. The same solution as done on Eclipse, just adding a few bended tubes as exhaust deflectors. If the owner will eccept that look, HDW gets really lucky away. In German we would call this "verschlimmbessern" or in english, to improve for the worse.

Btw. The Booms are still not carrying any sails jet.

I was about to make the same comment. I would think that this would still dirty the sails while under way unless they plan on using a lot of filters on the exhaust

On one other Megayacht related website, they posted some illegal aerial pictures and a youtube video of Sailing "A", made by a drone. You can clearly see the modified exhaust stacks. This modification, if permanent, is IMHO a "low pullout" for this type and size of project. On the the other hand, the silver metallic hull looks dramatic. From the HD pictures and video, it looks great and well done (Not the boat, just the paint sheme and its quality :)).

Btw. I said illegal pictures and video, as this drone(s) or UAV/RPV is/are operated outside the German Laws (LVG and LVZO, means Air traffic law and air traffic certification law). And this for flying over and near a facility with the purpose of looking into it (privacy), flying higher than allowed with drones in Germany, flying close to an airport (EDHK) with instrument traffic and restricted airspace and operating this drone by steering through the onboard camera and not via line of side, like a model plane. Plus this guy with his DJ Phantom III is by rule a commercial drone operator, which makes those rules even harder.

And this Dutch based website will be in trouble, if they are using such members and methods. I am glad, nobody on YF operates this way for posting sensational pictures. IMO, Yachtforums is much better than this site, even without using such "aggressive journalism". Our authorities are getting meanwhile really angry about those "drones".

I assume MYA is there because the owner is staying aboard as he waits for SYA to sail for the first time but she also shows just how big SYA is.

The new hull colour looks fantastic, but that exhaust arrangement screams design flaw.

I am just getting around to reading thru this subject thread as I was so put off by the ugly-ness of this boat that I did not even bother to read more about it.

I'll be interested to see what has been said thus far.
