Hi good day all. I have a quick question regarding the windlass on my Ocean 43. The windlass is a Lewmar, but I cannot find the model number, which I need so that i could download a parts manual. The windlass runs great, but it makes a good bit of noise, and I figure that the oil must need changing, or that it needs a service.

Could somebody help me identify which model this windlass is, so that I download the maintenance and parts manual.

I have attached some pictures of the windlass below.

    thanks in advance

I have a windlass like this with a rope wheel on the other side.
there is no oil in this windlass but grease on the gear wheels.
you have the electrical motor under the small cover, and the gear wheels under the big cover.
open the big cover very carefully and grease the wheels.
be careful not to move or lose any of the wheels.
if it still noisy after that, it may be the electrical motor, and for that I suggest you call a professional.
I had my electrical motor replaced by a professional, but the gear side I did myself.

    hi trinimax
my windlass is Horizon 1500 about 10 years old.
I have the original paper for that windlass on my yacht, but I'll see it in 10 days.
If you can wait that time, send me your E-mail and I'll send you the scanned material.
By the way, any news about your windlass?

my windlass is a Horizon 1500.
search the net for that type and you'll get all the information you need.
please remember that mine ids a gypsy & drum type, but the gear and motor are the same.
have you opened your windlass? what did you find?
