Essrtee8 That 56 is beautiful. I'm glad to hear it runs like the other Post "beasts". I run at 1750 =27 knots for an approximate 50 burn If I push it to 1900 = 30 knots at about 60 burn. Very happy with my Mans after 18 years.
There were 8 or them made. I have #7, model year 2003. Another guy from Florida who posted here had the last one, #8. The built a few 53's after the 56's, I guess the price was too high and the 53 which is very close to the 56 was probably a chunk cheaper due to the power.
I agree, it's a good looking boat. What speed does it do at a normal cruise RPM such as 1950 or 2000 rpms.
Yours is a lot faster than a 50' I used to run, but the one I used to run had a RIB, davit, 2 dock boxes on the bow. It used to do 26.5-27.2 knots at 1950 with 820 mans. Owner still has it but runs it himself for the last 5 years, he took the RIB, davit and junk off the bow and I think it now runs the same speed at 1850 rpms if I remember right,
Light inflatable up front. Props are well tuned and bottom clean and smooth. She always has been fast. You gave such exact numbers - she had to have to run different in different tides and winds, no? My numbers are the average speeds give or take on conditions. Posts are fast because of their Jersey bottoms. At 1950 on a flat day, no tide, with almost no tabs, I'm doing 31 according to my GPS, tops out at 36 at 2350. My normal cruise is between 1750 and 1850 - and those motors have been good to me! I run with my front center window open and my whole back is open. That does make a difference, what was your set up? Were your GPH similar to mine? I don't have a meter so I have been approximating all these years
It's been a while but that is the speed it used to run at, at 55-60 gph. Window open as well. But it had a lot of weight on the bow. a 13' RIB with 50hp, marquipt davit, 2 large fiberglass dock boxes that had crap stored in them. I dealt with the boat in 2010-2011 or 12 but am still friends with the owner. He has since gotten rid of the RIB, and dock boxes and I think the davit too but not sure as I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the bow the last time I was at his house. I believe he runs the same speed but at 100 rpms lower and cruises 1850 now. In my experience though the MANs like to run at 1950-2000 rpms and run cleaner there a lot of times, not always. I think if the boat does 25 knots or faster they're happy, they don't seem to like varying speeds/load factors much......25 knots and above you tend to stay pretty much at the same speed in a little sea state.
Friends of my run a Viking 55 from Curaçao to Turks and Caicos last two day's with an average of 109 gph (30 knots)
He has a lot more hull in the water than Posts do. Plus I think Mans are themselves pretty economical (on the fuel anyway, not so sure on the parts) Is the 1300 hp 10 or 12 cylinders?
40 knots most of the time. Tide and wind move me up or down. When coming back in from a trip I take it to the pins and blow past center consoles and they turn and look in amazement.
I rarely ever touch the tabs. I play with them and come to the conclusion the boat doesn't need them.
