For lovely renderings of the new "Big Fish" go here...

There is also another contract that they have secured in partnership with McMullen & Wing, for a 50-meter vessel similar to Big Fish called "Star Fish".

Greg Marshall stated Star Fish is being designed for the same customer as Big Fish. As they have moved through the design and build process, new technologies and materials have become reality and the design/build team and owner was anxious to incorporate them. Instead of a zillion change orders and redesigns, they went with a second slightly larger vessel able in order to incorporate these new products. There is a video interview with him in the June 2010 digital edition of Yachts International speaking about Big Fish.

You are welcome! In reading the information, I realized that this yacht will be the first with stone decks! I imagine that would be a very heavy "feature", not to mention the fact that the decks will be extremely slippery! Maybe they will issue you some suction cup shoes as your board this beauty?!?

The manufacturer suggests exactly the opposite. (http://www.stonedeckingsystems.com/)

The deck surface is epoxy-impregnated granite. It is said to be low maintenance, non-skid, cool under foot, and low weight. They also suggest that shoes are welcome. Even high heels!

I was talking to one of the engineers over there and it seems they have started to build the frame work for Star Fish, that was about a month ago. Cheers

"Star Fish" essentially is a sister to the "Big Fish" but is just longer at the stern. The longer stern accommodates a tender as you see below...

The 25-meter composite speedster built in 2005 as "Jariya" has a new name. She goes by "Elliele" now.

So they gave up on the tender on the back? I assume it will be garaged or on the rear of that third deck? I seem to catch a glimpse of a crane on the rendering? (just to the right of the flag)

PS: apparently, although the stone floors are supposed to be cool, their metal backings had the opposite effect, this will be re-visited for star fish...

Actually I think the tender behind there doesn't do justice for "Star Fish's" lines. They clearly couldn't do the same thing as with "Big Fish" because Star Fish's foredeck is totally reconfigured with open patio-type space and a jacuzzi. No hope for tender under the foredeck.

I tend to agree but was trying to refrain from commenting on its particular styling, but was pretty awed at the size of the thing... from the perspectives it is surely huuuge... I am now looking at options for a tender for a 140ft yacht and it has a somewhat limited setup, with a garage that isnt perhaps the best thought out, so I really value the "large" tender...

Okay, so I see there is a yacht now offered for sale to be called "Big Star" and can be launched in less than two years from contract signing. Now I am wondering, is this the badly fire damaged "Star Fish"? or a totally brand new vessel being built. My thinking is that it is Star Fish that the owner is trying to get sold.
