I have a 1991 4207 and have owned it for 1 year. It always has a list to starboard of several degrees, even when the fuel tanks are filled the same and the blackwater tanks are empty. Does anybody know why this happens??

Welcome to the forum, and enjoy that boat! Your problem could very well be the uneven distribution of furnishing, equipments, storage items, etc. Survey the interior and take a look at weight distribution. For instance is that stand up refrigerator on the starboard side balanced by a piece of equipment in the engine room to port, or a convertible bed to port in the salon? Bodacious comes on balance for me as my friends empty the wine larder.

Some folks have added lead (ballast) to solve the problem.

Once I kicked off wife #2 and her stuff, my ship leveled out quickly.:D

It's all in the stuff on board.
    Including trapped water.
Not to say factory design was level but what has been added/removed since?
Full sized fridge, dink, dink outboard, dink davits, larger water heater (re-positioned), tools, spare props, inverter and/or batteries. Live-aboard? lots of clothes (our problem).

I found those fancy supper dense foam mattresses listing one boat. Damm mattress weighed near 300 lbs.
Forward and aft, both berths on stb side.

Factory and the original dealer was asleep at the wheel OR the previous owners made changes over the years.

Your choice is to add ballast to the port side - useful ballast like an Inverter System / Battery Bank or dedicated ballast like lead ingots, which need to be secured (5200 sealant or other). The difficulty is in finding accessible space.

Stand all the way outboard on the Port side of the swimplatform (assuming your boat has one) to check how much weight is needed, keep adding bodies until she is level. Hopefully not much more than 300 - 400 pounds. The more you move inboard (towards centerline) the more ballast is necessary.

I'd prefer to remove weight or move it over.
Beau and I offered some points that we have not heard back from.

I too have been known to move lead on board. It's my last chance answer and usually takes some more moving about after a few rides. Trim dat ship before adding anything more.

thanks to all of you for your help. It could be the pull out couch on the low side. I tried to remove the mother in law, but she is too strong. Back to the gym I guess. I'll try to get her to move to the port side instead...that will involve laying some traps....

Working on boats can get frustrating some times.

It's good to take these things with a sense of humor.
It can help take the edge off when taking on an un-known.

Please keep your thread updated on what you find.

    Cheers,
    rc

I don't like really adding lead unless I have to. I prefer to add weight with stowed items like spare parts, or the best is to try to move existing weight on the heavy side over to the light side of the boat......50lbs from the heavy side moved over to the light side is a 100lb shift.
