T clamps

    What is the advantage of t-clamps for exhaust or water cooling lines vs regular hose clamps. I also see their are torque clamps with springs that allow for fluctuation in cold/hot temperatures.

    They maintain a constant torque around the entire clamping area, and are superior in that aspect.

    Best clamps you can purchase. I have nothing else on my exhaust systems.

    The Sle-Ray we work on with the 900CRMs had the regular (Breeze?) clamps all over the exhaust system.
    Un-Real.
    When we replaced one of the dump cans, we also replaced all of the clamps with some nice constant-torque clamps. The old clamps fell apart when we touched them. The hoses where just keeping it place by weight and luck.

    Expensive-yes.
    Your ship and life may depend on them.
    Worth every penny.

    On non-exhaust hoses, I prefer AWAB's up until 3".

    Agreed.
    AWAB and some other indented (rather than perforations) clamps do seem much stronger and longer living.

    The first "large" boat I owned back in the dark ages had plain old threaded screw clamps on everything in the machine spaces except for one T Bolt clamp. That clamp was the only one that didn't just fall off when I went to check the torque on it. Replaced them all with T Clamps an have used them ever since. I always keep a dozen of the 12" ones on board as spares. A LOT of water going out that big exhaust pipe under way. Also they are on my monthly inspection list. I have them on the entire engine as well, but fret the most about the big ones.
