We operate a few of those hatchless box carriers too but only in short sea shipping. It shortens loading time in the feeder business. But I have no idea wheather this approach would be granted for a large passenger carrying SOLAS yacht like SY "A". Maybe KIWI knows?

There are some precautions required like a higher bulkwark around the cargo hold and redundant pumps.
But the forward cargo hold has always to be hatched by rule. Ugly ships but they make money :p.

    One more pic of "A"

Btw. "A" is located in Dock 8 of HDW Kiel. One of the biggest drydocks in Europe 1.400 ft x 290 ft.

Why is the first thing that comes to my mind that high heel yacht design from a while back?

I am still trying to understand what her aft superstructure looks like, there seems to be a large oval structure right aft...?

Looking at the aerial view, it appears that the bottom of the well deck (pool deck?) is still above the waterline so perhaps providing a substantial area or number of drains or artistically designed scuppers around the space will satisfy class.

I am sure, class has been satisfied. I do not how much (green) water has to be removed in what time and by gravity to satisfy class. It is probably a lot.

Btw. This picture came up in several local news papers in Northern Germany this weekend. It shows the proportions of her mast in comparison to her hull. Remember this are free standing, turning masts (you can tell, the middle mast looks into a different direction). Those load numbers on the rig would scare me. I hope, the guy, who has signed the warranty agreement on the yard side for these masts, can keep his job for the next years :).

This yacht does not get prettier with time for me but I must admit more and more interesting from the technology point of view. I promise, I will take my hat off, if this giant smokes past my boat under full sail only and with a decent heel (and not engine assisted). And remember, the bridges blocking the exit of the Baltic Sea for this boat have less height than this giant gantry crane.

I'll wait to see her in full sail/underway before I make a call on her looks. All too often, what at first seems ungainly, unattractive or even ugly, will suddenly be inspiring and, hang in there, beautiful! Whether in architecture or marine, it needs to be complete and given time to breath life.
Looking at your post of Wasa, AMG, I remember drawing countless different variations on the Golden Hind.
Having seen Tall Ships on the water, that is something absolutely beautiful!

She is growing on, the masts really make her.

The first thing I thought when I saw the pictures today was "where are they going to hang the fenders from?"......docking/berthing her, especially with that finish, looks like it could be hair raising...?

"A" or what ever her name is, is on seatrails.

I am still not sure how this rig works. The rear mast and the middle mast seem to have main sheets, at least for the sea trails.
And that will be a lot of sail area to handle.

Hope there is a wind strong enough to make this creature stretch her being. That design is meant to flow with a curling bow wave and stretched lines!

And of course she is on https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=2&v=mkLzzRWUBQk
I did not see this posted yet, if a dup admin please delete.

I am smitten, what an amazing yacht, I can hardly wait to see her under sail and am even more curious if she will meet, exceed, or not meet her design speed!

I'm liking this yacht more and more. Those masts really make her look impressive. I really like how those were designed.

Brave designer who has been blessed to find a client with deep, deep pockets and strong constitution who has probably spent a great deal of time with the designers himself. I have nothing but respect for all these people.
