This doesn't let up. How many are going to go aground this year or otherwise mess things up.

According to Transportation Safety Board investigation records, this is not the first time the Tundra has run aground in the St. Lawrence. In November 2012, while en route to Halifax, Nova Scotia, from Montreal, Quebec, the ship was grounded due to “fatigue and ineffective communication between the pilot and bridge team.”

Ok, a wonderful line in this next article. The head of the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation spoke to say this was four unrelated events and had nothing to do with water level. But this is the line of the day:

He says pilots and captains have technology on board that clearly shows where the boat shouldn’t travel.

“We have systems that show them the bottom of the waterway and anything that they would hit is red – it’s painted in red – on their screens so they can slow down,” he said.

This is getting really crazy. Tug boat Lac Manitoba sank in the same general area today on the Seaway near Cornwall.

I was a way last week just curious what you brought down the canal and how long you had to wait once you checked in, and how long was your trip.

    Rodger,

I took at 52' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge through. I checked in at 10:00 on Tuesday the 6th and didn't start through until 1700. I got through Lock 1 about 0300 and ended up tying up to the Check In dock on the North end about 330 and slept til 730 and then made my way to Oswego. Was pretty smooth going, and just got called to bring another Sea Ray through in about 2 weeks heading to Detroit.
