Since you have mentioned it... there was an old thread I have seen where Lars said once free he would give an airborne design a modification shot, he was busy at the time. So now, I think it is a unanimous demand that he tries something up, lets say an opening thread for JF, what do you think? Cheers,
And here is a reminder from a 2007 conversation: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/technical-discussion/4554-helicopters-seaplanes-yachts-10.html#post39716 Awaiting something of the tasty stuff Lars got us hooked on, but now make us fly! (A bit cheesy... right?! ) Cheers,
No flying machines yet, just another boat. This time a 64-footer with twin IPS/1200 for 27/35 knots. No plans to build her, just a rendering...
Oh a mixture of classic lines and a modern superstructure... that looks awesome!! You have always interesting and unconventional new ideas, I like that.
Round portlights, walk around decks and Portuguese bridge, all come from years, maybe generations of experience as to what makes a yacht safe/functional and practical and then you added a style that makes it look UNIQUE and has a signature of the designer at first glance. That's design that only talent and experience can achieve. And NO I am not "polishing your apples!" Like it very much!
D130 / 40 m Here is a new concept yacht, with engines and storage below, cabins all along above and a salon like a beach house with floor to ceiling windows on main deck. A relaxed yacht that is not requiring a big crew to run and maintain.
Today the hull for our new 80-footer was lifted out of the mould. Like the D54 this is an all carbon fiber boat. Now we will fit the engines, triple IPS1200, and after the deck is there we will make the first sea trials of the hull. Hopefully before the Baltic freezes over!
Lars, Great looking boats. I always admired those on the water whenever we'd see one from our little runabout while living on Lidingo (GĂ„shaga). Looking at the 54 why did you choose triple IPS600 option instead of a larger twin IPS installation? I've noticed this with other manufacturers as well and when I asked Tiara the same question regarding their 58 they basically just said it was because when they built the hull the larger IPS motors were not available and it would be difficult (costly) to change. Is this the case with the Delta 54 as well? Be well, max
Thanks Max, when we built the D54 we found that two IPS900 gave less speed and range than triple IPS600, also weighing in about two tons more. But if anyone would like to have twin IPS900, I think it is possible to fit. The boat we had at the Cannes Show a week ago, have just twin IPS600, still with a nice cruising speed of 25-26 knots;
Then you should come to the FLIBS, this D54 was shipped there yesterday. She is with triple IPS/600 and runs near 40 knots including a heavy Seakeeper gyro...
Hmm, long time since I uploaded anything here. The 80-footer is presented elsewhere on YF:s, so fast forward and we are thinking of a 67-footer to fill the gap between the 54' and the 80'. This proposal is based on the 64' that you can see above in this thread, but this time with a wider cabin to carry a flybridge. I will post a fairly big rendering as a thumbnail since we now have this option;
Nice clean lines. Modern looking but some retro in the teak trimmed coamings Going aft. A tiny bit of New England Lobster boat? Did the 80 sell?
