Would you buy this boat?

Them thar Carolina boats sure do get around don't they! It does bring up some good discussion from YF member's with widely varied backgrounds on what's considered "acceptable" build practice and what's "required" by various standards organizations. Many have been surprised a homebuilt boat could be put into commercial service carrying passengers for hire and while it's only true for uninspected vessels, there are a lot of those out there.

Yeah. Possibly after you change out the PVC home depot shutoff valves on ALL of the through-hulls, rebrace the salon ceiling so a fat guy doesn't fall through where they cut the braces 80%, etc.

one must remember , there is a thing called cost. i'm sure if the builder had an unlimited budget ,he would not go to home depot..

Those two and a few more (like insuring the interior seats are not going to slide across the salon, lol), but I can see someone with the right skills making this boat into a successful charter vessel with less than $30K invested after the purchase costs; if the hull passes a survey.

The Faux-Plywood vanity top is a nice touch.

I bet that boat rides better than 90% of production boats.

It's looked down upon based upon the engine room alone. Some of the installation methods and for example the home depot PVC shutoffs for all of the thru-hulls are downright scary. I would never be comfortable running that boat in the ocean. Perhaps if you went through it and properly re-did all of their "island engineering".

If you cannot afford to put marine seacocks on a 60' boat, you have no business owning one, and certaintly not taking innocent people 30 miles offshore to fish for a paycheck.

When did the last one of these Carolina legends sink and cause a rescue/injury/death?
Personally I would not buy the boat, yet history says they have the "goods" to serve their purpose.

and it reminds me of at least one very fancy and expensive production boat with proper through hulls that delaminated and sunk.

maybe the guy who forgot to put the hardener in the resin was from Carolina....

This boat has been for sale since at least since last summer, and I have read threads on other sites about it. I believe a local captain has stated that she was NOT built in N. Carolina and handles quite poorly.

No, it was a guy from Miami that couldn't measure and just poured gallons of hardener into the resin.......LOL

I think you need a project.....could be fun.....maybe mount some turbines in her and see if she'll splinter and come apart......
