On trying to access Yachtforums today, I was required to first provide some personal information - no matter what link on the page I selected, I was shown a page where I had to enter Location, Interests, Profession, Gender. When I look at my profile I see these new required fields:

What's the intent with having location and profession entered twice (once mandatory) and the other, new, mandatory fields? Did anyone else get this?

I was thinking, more of a list of who everyone's occupation is, so people can't come on here promoting and then say well nobody asked?

Sorry about this guys. Not my intent to intrude. The bio details are to help us read between the lines on new registrations. It was part of vB's software, but missing in XenForo so we installed a script with required user/bio fields. It's one of the tools that helps Lars, Kevin and myself stay ahead of the numerous spammers, bots and real humans with the wrong intentions that we battle every day.

The duplicate "Location" field should be fixed now.

So the fact that I am in the business but not promoting it wont hinder my ability to be apart of this amazing group of enthusiasts Carl?

No, half of us on here are in the business in one way or another.....I am not a moderater on here, but as long as you're not using YF as free advertising disguised as a consumer and tell people you're in the business if it somehow pertains to your post, I think you should be fine.

Filled in the blanks rather casually.
Did not provide details so as to avoid being contacted by lusty maidens seeking physical favors:D

You never Dag, I just got a text message from a number I have no prior connection with. It is supposedly from a young single lady who is up for anything.

I won't be finding out any more however as my missus was none too pleased when I answered her question as to who the text was from.

I have yet to find out how to block numbers with this new acct.

Rule Nr. 1: Hide your phone from the missus.
Rule Nr.2: Always respond to young ladies in need.
Rule Nr.3: Ask the young lady if she has a sister, then PM me.:D

Seriously, I would take your telephone number off the site. That's unnecessary info IMO

+1 234 567 8901 seems to satisfy any that want one when you register, it goes along with my Yahoo addy reserved for just those places.

We do our best to remove ANY phone numbers posted to YF. The only exception is a business number that may already be posted online. I'm amazed that some people don't use better judgement on the net.
