i defrosted and when turned back on it made one batch of ice and filled ice bucket with water, which froze as well. Twice. Anyone have any ideas to look for? I've read how best way to fix is take to dump. I don't have extra grand for an ice maker...

I agree with RCRAPPS, just replace. It is mild steel and if the unit loses power or is turned off with ice/water/humidity in the there, the parts inside of it become rusty junk. HOWEVER, sometime you can pull off the square front cover on the mold assembly and there is a screw you can adjust the amount of water it puts into the mold assembly and once in a while that fixes the problem.

What is odd is that it makes 2 batches of ice and then fills up bucket with water and shuts off because the 3rd batch and frozen top layer of ice shut it down so it's not leaking all over the salon floor. So goes 2 batches no prob and then doesn't shut off filling for third....I'm sitting here till second batch finishes at least.....

Not so fast fellas. I have a little experience with the U-line ice maker as margaritas are a must on board, while at anchor of course.

If you remove the control panel covering the end of the extractor mechanism, you will find a micro switch on the inner side of the cam plate which is activated by the rotating cam on the extractor shaft. Check the tolerances between the cam and the plunger on the micro switch. Tightening up the tolerances should get you back to making ice. If there is no play in the mechanism, the switch may be stuck. This does happen in tired switches. You can replace the switch for less than 20 bucks. Try that first before ripping out the ice maker and dropping a G note on a new one. Good luck.

As i commented above,,, Been there, Done that, Lost my T shirt, switches, motors, broken promises, draws, customers confidence....
There are 2 switches in there, a heater under the plate, a ACv motor that just barely turns, plastic gears and more that tries to operate in a freezing environment.
Play with if if you must, call it names as we all have, pray you will never go here again, threaten all who advise OR just order another UL402 module, have 5 red crimps available and cold beer will be had.
If you're close to 32210, we can help,,,,, need cool mixer, no ice..

I suppose you have one more thing to contend with being the salt air. They last longer and rust less in the Great Lakes region. Not to mention they don't operate all year round.
