I believe the going rate for a new Oceanco was about €150-160 million plus another €10 million for tenders and other personal items which would be at the $197 million Cakewalk is listed at. Granted, Cakewalk doesn't have the same technical qualities or prestigious qualities of an Oceanco. I also believe she was made for around $100 million (maybe slightly cheaper) back in the the year of her construction dollars.

I agree, all those yachts are grossly overpriced. The market today is a buyers market. A huge chunk of the world fleet is for sale. And you not only need to convince a buyer, but the financier too, and those guys don't "fall in love" with any boat.

"Cakewalk" is heading to St. Barths currently. Interestingly I can see "Cakewalk Vikal", her Vikal semi-Limo trailing behind her. Why would it be sailing with the mothership from St. Maarten to St. Barths when she could just be taken aboard?

    Hi,

Maybe there is a problem with the hull door or the crane that lifts it onboard.

She probably wouldnt be underway at the time with a problem of her garage door , that would be a possible breach in the hull. Maybe as you say the trolley overhead crane? As for the other suggestion, not sure that Semi-Limo is the best platform to fish from :)

    Hi,

Ron, A defective shell door can be held shut with chain blocks, bottle screws etc if required.

    Maybe it just doesn't open.

They could, of course, just be being a little lazy. It can be a pain to lift a tender just for a short inter-island hop.

Maybe it had a recent major service or upgrade and being checked for performance and whatnot.

Not sure what a semi limo is, but, you are right, it doesn't sound like it has a baitwell

Here are two of my photos of one of "Katara's" Vikal Semi-limos. They are similar to the one "Cakewalk" carries. As you can see, it is not the most ideal platform to fish from. It's very nice for guest shuttling.

Indeed, the only fish that come aboard that vessel are missing their heads and wrapped in white paper.

I saw that she appeared to be sold but I couldn't find any sort of press release.

Her sale was reported on BI dot com on December 5, 2014 by Malcolm MacLean who said that Burgess acted for both the buyer and seller.

I've noticed that on MT. Wasn't there an old Amels named Aquila?
