New to Forum - Purchasing 1974 60 foot Roamer

HI!

I am new here. I wanted to introduce myself but also get involved in the Chris Craft Roamer threads.

I am in the process of purchasing a 1974 60 foot Chris Craft Roamer. She is the style with the galley up and opened to the salon.

I am very excited and will be living on her with my daughter (14 years old) and it will be our full time home. I am in the middle of selling my home and selling everything in it to move aboard our new home.

She/we will be at docked Volunteer Landing in Knoxville and I understand there is a great live aboard community, so we are excited about that too.

I used to live on a sailboat in the Caribbean with my family (48 ft Sparkman and Stevens Yawl) when I was younger and worked on many large mega motor Yachts - Jan Pamela II, Kalizma and a few others, besides was a crew on many charter sailing yachts, including the Trimaran of Wanderlust out of Tortola BVI. Which was our homeport with our yacht named Insouciant.

Here is the picture of my future home and I really look forward to any advice and information people have about the marina and who is a good mechanic besides inside boat cabinet makers. I am a very handy person and plan on taking a diesel mechanics class besides learning how to fix paint on aluminum hulls. I already know how to varnish and that was my job on some mega yachts at times, so that is not a concern.

This will be my first time handling a large motor boat as I have been a sailor.

Any helpful information on the marina and the boat is much appreciated!

I started this thread way too soon. I had an offer on the house and then thought I was buying the boat and everything would happen. Well the house ended up not selling (yet). So... I am embarrassed to have started this before it was all set.

I still have plans to live at the marina, when my house sells.

Well after 1 1/2 years after starting this thread..........

Everything in the opening post is now happening.

My house is sold and we are closing at the beginning of December.

Amazing it is the same people from last year and you will never guess it is the same boat that I will be buying/living on as mentioned and pictured. (I will put my avatar as Christos, once I am on her)
I can't believe I am able to get her still!

We are in the middle of getting rid of everything in our 5000 sq ft house to move on our new home.

Volunteer landing has a slip for us, reserved and I am trying to figure out the logistics of getting our home from Illinois to Knoxville. We will be doing it over the Christmas holidays as my daughter wants to do the trip too. I am now going to find a licensed captain to bring her down.

I am super excited along with my daughter!

So yes I started this thread 1 1/2 years early but it is now all happening.

I hope it is not a jinx to update the thread before everything is signed on the dotted line, but I believe it is all coming together as it should.

OH, if people in Knoxville want some awesome art, tools, mower, log splitter and other stuff, PM me... it all has to go! It won't fit on a 60 foot boat!

We are looking forward to our new life on Christos. No doubt there will be some learning curves.

Well I did it again. This whole thread now needs to be deleted. I am not buying the boat at all, due to the survey of it. I am on the look out for another boat that will be a perfect fit as my new home. My house is sold and I have moved, just not to the marina on a boat as of yet.

One day I will learn not to leap and jump before I know for sure what is under me and so on.

I would rather not get into it. The owner does not agree with anything the surveyor found. It just ends up not being the correct home for me as I am not confident that it would not cost me more than I can afford to keep her in good shape and to do what needs to be done.

I don't even remember the name. That was back in 1981, when I was on board her. A long time ago and I have never been great with remembering names in the first place.
