    This trip I have decided to play the fuel stops by price as much as possible instead of fueling by convenience. I do not use that much fuel in comparison to some but saving a few hundred bucks can't hurt.
    We use 30-35 gph at 22 knots.
    Active Captain has added fuel prices by state in order by price per gallon. Makes it pretty easy to plan ahead.

    When shopping for fuel. Call ahead before landing for fuel. Prices change and during the winter, home heating oil sales (lack of) may effect diesel price.

    Don't count on a BoatUS discount at every marina. Yard in Jax only gives it to their customers and not public or transients.

    Once you get south of Jacksonville the opportunities for cheaper fuel are limited. I will burn 750 gallons from Annapolis to St Augustine. Several 3.35-3.55 diesel docks along the way saving .50-.60 cents a gallon at convenience transient stops. That is $400. yikes

    Actually in South Florida there are opportunities in between using fuel barges or fuel trucks. Prices vary based on volume, method of pay, and membership programs. Current prices are around $3.75 with some discounts as low as $3.57.

    Word on the street is that crude will be $70. a brl by summer. Plenty of mid atlantic and south fuel docks advertising 3.05-3.35
    Atlantic Yacht Basin
    Coinjock
    Morehead City Yacht Basin
    Jarret Bay
    to name a few

    I paid 3.63 today from Petersons and thats for over 500 gallons.

    Well, we paid $3.61 at a generally expensive Hilton Head resort marina yesterday for about 600 gallons.

    In addition to active captain check out saltys cruisers net and call the day before especially with prices falling, you can easily save $1 a gall. As some marinas are stuck with higher price fuel waiting for suckers or captains who don't care...

    Osprey in south Myrtle is usually competitive and while it s a bit of a distance from the inlet, you get to run the Waccamaw River to nexg inlet and the Waccamaw is one of the most scenic stretch of ICW....

    The commercial docks in Brunswick, Fernandina and ft pierce Are your best bet for cheap fuel south of the carolinas.

    3.26 a gal delivered dockside in ft.pierce,includes all taxes and fees.3.07 a gl+.02 a gl for environmental fee plus sales tax of 6%

    Funny, we (the Dutch) have the reputation :rolleyes: to be on the penny, but I don't give a sh*t about the amount of fuel I spend a day/week/month/year...

    If I can't afford it, I don't travel...or sell the boat!

    I luv that attitude. Wish I could go there all the way. We still go every chance, just slowed down a bunch (hate it when that happens, slow sux). Sure makes me feel good charging an inlet or a few minutes blowing out the slobber.
