Analog?

Not digital, but we're talking about analog, man. I mean, how silly is that? ... And we talking about analog. I know I supposed to be there. I know I'm supposed to lead by example... I know that... And i'm not.. I'm not shoving it aside, you know, like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I do. I honestly do... But we're talking about analog man. What are we talking about? Analog? When you come to the water, and you see boats, you see boats don't you? You've seen everything They've got, right? But we're talking about analog right now. We talking about an......

I'm like seriously trying to think of the last time I did see anything analog? What is left? Sorry, but I'm a child of the digital age.

That was funny!

There are electronically related entries of course and one whole category is electronics, but it sure feels good to see the nuts and bolts, pumps and dumps, and be reminded that our taking pleasure in the earth's waters is really a physical experience. Even tough I have studied all 88 submissions on my computer via Dropbox, it's going to take the touch and feel and hands-on tactile experience to separate the fluff and puff.

Always digital cell phone but I do remember that sometimes it use to roam "Analog."

Television, always some form of cable so digital equipment, but I know some stations were still analog for a while.

Oh, watches.....got watches with hands that go round and round like the wheels on the travelocity bus.

Black and white tv? Never had one of those. I'm just a bratty kid still.

It's funny sometimes that things that were a change to some, were all I ever used. It's like I started with chart plotters, computers, LCD and LED monitors and radar and gps, so never had to make a change from paper to electronic charts.

Cars always had electric windows and doors. Never used hand crank washing machines. Oh, always had microwaves around.

That's freaking funny. I'll tell you one thing old I like sometimes...other than my hubby....who isn't really that old, just older than me. Some of the tv shows. Like we were watching Barney Miller the other night and Mork and Mindy one night and I also like learning how some were huge influences and led to big changes like Andy Griffith in reruns on TBS. Actually do get some exposure to olden days through some of the shows on channels like TV Land and Aspire. Oh and watched Ed Sullivan and read about it's significance and introducing Elvis and the Beatles. So I do understand some of the analog world, just never lived it. And yet already seeing things that I talk about and the 18 year olds around us look like "duh....what the heck are you talking about?"

I wish I still had my old bag phone (yes Belle is was a cell phone) it weighed about 12 pounds had a shoulder strap, and 5 watts of power vs. 0.3 watts on today's phones. I could be 15-20 miles offshore and still find a cell tower....sigh...those were the days.

Don't forget to mention The Life of Riley, The Honeymooner's (Ralph Kramden, Ed Norton, Alice and Trixie), Car 54, Where Are You?, The Lone Ranger, and Hopalong Cassidy, for some more strange looks.

Since we are drifting from Judy's original post, how about the old Tarzan movies, Tom and Jerry, Lost in Space, The three Stooges on Sunday mornings, The Road Runner, and of course, I Dream of Jeannie. BTW, Judy, I'll look for you next week at the show. Anyone else going, should we do a meet up?

how can you not mention speed racer?

If we were in town, this is a show we'd go to...honestly more interesting to us than FLIBS or any boat show. Boat shows, you just look and see things you know about. IBEX, you get to see new fun toys for the first time.

Some of the seminars look interesting but a bit more time on the subjects than a layman like me might want. I thought of sending someone we know of a ticket for this seminar, but then realized they're no longer in business.
