The previous owner for some reason or another replaced the original blinds with some non fitting house curtains held up with expansion rods and cup hooks. We finally got to that item on our "To Do" list and ordered some new fabric cellular blinds from Lowes. Looks so much better. Before and after shots.

It's amazing how little you have to do/spend to make a big difference. I'll guess that your solution could even be cheaper than the cutrains. Looks good.

Nice. Are they plissees (translation?) which you can also use from the lower to the upper position, or only from the upper to the lower. - If that makes sense.

That sure looks like some bright lighting. Is it LED?

I think I follow your question, no. We thought about that option but we have a header at the top of the window that the blind tucks up and behind when fully raised. Can't see them when they are in raised position.

Yes, low voltage LED lighting runs off house battery banks.

This picture was taken at night with no flash. The LED's really light up the cabin.

Yes, they made a great transformation. We should have done it sooner on our list. They had to be custom made (84" wide x 36" long) and ran about $350 for both blinds. Not a bad investment.

How did you get old rods off?

We have a 2001 404 and can't seem to figure out how to get behind that small valence without ripping it apart?

Mine has a 3/4 x 3/4 stip of cherry wood that is screwed to the back side of the valence and then screwed to the top to hold valence to the ceiling. Unscrew from the ceiling and pull valence down.

Forgot to get a picture last weekend with the blinds raised. Just got here tonight and took a couple pics with them up. Sorry for the bright LED's. At night they really are bright. I am standing down in the galley shooting up. The blinds are like about a inch being tucked away behind the valance.

Thanks for the idea. Our last owner installed vertical blinds which were so so for a few years, but then got all wonky. When you posted about the cellular blinds, which we have in our newly redone bedroom, we thought capital idea ! Luckily 72" standard width blackout's did the trick, stock from Home Depot which we replaced in about an hour.
