Sliding windows....ARGH !!

    Does anyone know of a product that will clean and/or lubricate the "felt?" which the side windows on a 3607 slide on.

    I've tried everything under the sun and nothing improves the slide.

    They are so difficult to slide that one of the knobs broke.

    Also, to remove them don't they just lift out like a sliding window at home.

    Geeze I'm so frustrated.......................

    We have a similar problem. I have found sources for the felt channels but have not been able to figure out how to get the windows out. I had hoped they would lift up and out but that does not seem to be an option.

    Any thoughts?

    Pure silicone spray is the standard lubricant for most residential window tracks.

    When I was inquiring about removing my windows on our 3807 to get the couch out, Carver suggested that the window frame be jacked apart 1/8 inch to allow the window to be removed. I thought better of it, cut the couch apart and replaced it with a custom built modular one.

    You might try working the channel molding on the top or bottom out with the glass in place by lifting the free end out and sliding it out from under / over the glass. That may give you enough clearance to get the glass out and allow you to clean the frame and do whatever it needs, like paint, and then reverse the process. Dish soap, silicone spray, or grease can be used to facilitate the process.

    Sliding Window Problems

    Just a suggestion but I replaced the blinds in my 3607 and found that the original window mounts were installed up against the windows. I could not open them more than an inch and was afraid I would break the knob. Problem solved with correctly placing the new mounts and window opened for the first time in 25 years.

    you can use powdered grafite but it makes a mess so just try some baby powder on the tracks and they will slide easier

    But wouldn't baby powder become a blob once it gets wet ?
