Just got back from Florida with a new paint job.......Off White Revisited Awlgrip on the topsides and the Whaler and Kingston Gray Awlgrip on hull with dark blue feature stripe and engine turned gold tape stripe covered with Clear Awlgrip for protection from chafing. Also used a light tan Awlgrip for the non skid on the decks and cabin top.

Great job at a great price! Very pleased with the finished product. Now for a new galley..........Tearing out the original galley and going back with new navy blue custom cabinets with a rope motif on the door fronts in gold and a black antique glaze. Going for a feature in 'Better Boats and Gardens' in April.:D

This was her 40th birthday present. She is a 1973 Matthews Voyager 56' Motor Yacht. Hope she appreciates the love.............

I agree, looks great. Where in Florida did you have her painted at?

I was lucky enough to have a look during her homeward travels. She IS absolutely stunning.

Our ship may have to wait a lil longer. Say on Bert's 40th, a nice paint job like yours. I know where to go.

The pictures look like St.Augustine city docks.

Beautiful. Would you be able to give us any rough numbers for doing the different areas? The time will be coming in the near future with our 56 Hatt, so they'd relate. PM would be fine if you'd rather not mention $ on the open thread.

I'm sure Scott would take great Joy to Sea his legacy live on. Curious, is the name a nautical twist on a shoreline resident's pronunciation of Jersey?

The name comes from the Admiral of the Fleet whose name is Joyce and is known to friends as 'Joycie'. Married to the Fleet Captain for 53 years this September and this is the first ship named for her.

I am surprised at how many folks think the name JOY SEA comes from slang for 'Jersey'.

The Matthews was painted by Ruben Cesares of R and R Marine at the old Daytona Boat Works which is now Aquamarina. He is a magician with Awlgrip and is very reasonable and has as much passion for DOING a good job as I am with GETTING a good job.:D

I'm sorry I missed her on your northbound trip. Was a pleasure to meet your Admiral in Daytona.
Thank you for your referral. Will has turned into a great friend. He has disappeared upriver on the St Johns. After a beautiful day like today, I should of stowed aweigh on his ship.

    Be well my friends,
    Ralph

    New galley!

Tearing out the old almond Formica galley (circa 1998) and having new custom cabinets built. The last photo is the color sample only and not the final trim option. Going with a 'rope" motif on the doors and as trim between the cabinets and the head liner. Solid surface counter tops and ceramic tile back splash with new SS LG brand appliances.

Any thoughts on the color choice of Navy Blue with Gold rope motif with a Black Glaze?

Your recent thread on the galley update has been merged with your existing thread on fresh paint and retitled for better indexing.

    Looking good!

Thanks Carl.........this Galley rebuild is taking longer than the paint job in Daytona. Looking for Whale plumbing fittings at a decent price right now. The **** things must be gold plated they are so expensive. I drove up to Donalds, South Carolina last Thursday in a minivan and picked up 2 sheets of 1/2" teak and holly and 3 sheets of 1/4" teak veneer for the project at East Teak. Very accommodating people there and the quality of the product is excellent.

The old Whale is close to the old Sea-Tec stuff. The old Poly B bushing & nut should work, Poly B quick connects may work but should not be left charged while away. The later PEX will NOT work without a Poly B to Pex adapter(knocking out the internal squash fitting). Never found a PEX to Sea-Tec or Whale adapter.
Hit Sea Ray-Parts.com your source for original equipment boat parts for all brands of boats. Latches, locks, hardware lighting, stainless, gauges, panels, fiberglass parts, fabrics, propellers, running gear and more for sea-tec & Whale parts.

Finally got the first cabinet going in. Correction......went in, then out for a trim job. 'Measure twice, cut once'..........or "aw ****, let's take it back and cut an inch and half off.":(

Anyway, color looks good. Should have some appliances this week and cabinets as well. :D

Darker than what I would prefer but it's not my galley. It looks very good and very classy.

That's a bold choice for cabinet color. I have to say I think it looks terrific.

There is enough contrasting light wood that sets it off.
