Help with mould(mildew) ? rib boat

this is hard to believe that its growing on the tubes
better talk to the maker and ask if they have seen this before also if the material is sensitive too with cleaning products.
I know that high PH cleaners will remove this kind of stuff with a soft brush
Once you get it cleaned I would wax it;to seal it up I do mine once a year just skid the step treads

I have used "methylated spirit", but not sure if mine is hypalon. Try on a small area first and flush with water after...

Looks like its on the fiberglass floor boards also. Is it possible that its from diesel exhaust? Where do you keep the inflatable. Just a thought.

I don't think it's Diesel fumes, some of my RIBs have been turned black all over with exhaust stains.

One range of cleaners I use are by Polymarine, very good stuff.

It is just about €4 /litre so it is worth a try, and diluted with water you can clean almost anything without causing damage... it is perfect for canvas with mould as well, it sort of kills it..

It's not uncommon by any means to see "mold" growing in the pores of hypalon. And it can be tough to get out. You could start with bleach and then try degreaser and Magic Erasers. Also orange hand cleaner with pumice in it works well. It takes lots of elbow grease no matter what you use. And you may not get it all out no matter how hard you scrub. After the cleaning follow up with 303 Protectant.

Mold

Wait until CaptJ has finished moving boats into the show and he will tell you what to use. I guess that is where he is but may be away on a trip.

Heavy dousing of simple green and use magic erasers to scrub it in. Rinse well and protect with 303.

What have you been using to clean it for the last 3 years?

It's a touch on the harsh side, but I haven't seen any longterm effects with it. But I have used bleach or 50/50 bleach and water.....and mixed that with a lot of soap....Joy or Dawn......the sudsy soap makes it stay on the tubes without running off like straight bleach....brush on with a washdown brush.....let sit 5-10 minutes......that combined with a scrub from a brush or magic eraser usually takes it off......Krud kutter also works pretty well and you can find that at Home Depot etc.....

The orange gojo with pumice sometimes works really good and sometimes not so good......

I have had two white inflatable and have struggled to keep them clean looking.
Also once the white ones start to age a bit they always seem to look bad.

My last two inflatables have been grey.
Although they don't look as pretty when new, they look new a lot longer and are easier to keep clean.

I have had luck cleaning the older white with soft scrub and a sponge, ones once they get pitted and have dark pores. I remember using the soft scrub with bleach and making sure not to be too abrasive to the fabric and rinsing off quickly.

I have also used acetone, but be very careful to wipe on and wipe off and rinse with water. The acetone will delaminate the glue that keeps the inflatable together if left on.

Always test a small part of the boat first.

By the way, one thing that never seems to work for me is any product that is marked
"Inflatable Boat Cleaner"

Get some Gas and a match. I've had this problem and used clorox bleach, ajax. mixed it together. It took a few applications but it came out fine. It will never be the same but its white. With the rubber rub rails I had pitting so I sanded with 80 grit and turned out well. On nice days take off the cover and let the boat get some sunshine.

Permanon Paste

I have tried a bunch of things and I keep coming back to Permanon paste and the applicator pad.In fact, I use that for a lot of things. Its kind of like a soap type paste. It requires some elbow grease but it looks super good after the application. Once done, I just spray on some Permanon and call it a day.
