    Aft doors fitted. The doors are removable and windows open close electrically and and drop down and disappear into the island lockers

    These restoration thread are great... all the best with this project. Looks like it is coming along very well.

    If I recall correctly the berth will be Genoa, but any chance you will be visiting the Cote d'Azur upcoming season?

    My choice for a permanent berth (actually my wife's ) is Beaulieu but they never come up for rent and I don't want to buy so the plan is to berth in Imperia or genoa where it's not only cheaper than France but ideally situated to cruise the Cote d'Azure and in particular NW italy inc Sardinia etc...

    Indeed. They did a terrific job with Sultana but personally I preferred her the shape and style of her original Pilothouse.

    I don't mind change, and I'm a fine one to talk, as I fitted a Pilothouse on Tiky where originally there was none...but Tiky needed a permanent shelter and I think the new design suits her ( it may not be everyone's cuppa tea, though!)

    Beaulieu is very nice but bombarded with russians the last couple seasons. Should check out Port la rague in Theoule sur mer. It's a really nice clean marina with a good restaurant and close to Cannes.

    I will keep my eyes open and try to find this Dutch beauty upcoming season.

    I'll do as you advise...sorry to hear about Beaulieu ... As a young teenager In the late 1960s, I used to go on holiday exchanges there. My mum answered an ad in Nice Matin and I got to stay with a lovely french family for 2 weeks and the boy would then come and stay with my family in London. I definitely had the better end of the deal, especially as he had a really gorgeous sister. The first year I went to Beaulieu - probably 1968- the marina had just been finished but was totally empty. Then, when I went to work in Paris in the 1980s my wife and I would often go and spend a few days at La Reserve, which in those day was a very stylish but modestly priced hotel. I've been many times to SOF (Cannes , ST trop and elsewhere, s but not for 2 or 3 years. We loved the somewhat geriatric charm of Beaulieu and I'm saddened to hear it has apparently changed. Same thing happened in Sardinia where we up used to go and stay in Cala Di Volpe on the Costa Smeralda . It was an amazing hotel and a fantastic experience that although not cheap , was "do-able", especially off season at the end of August. That all changed about 7 years ago when it was flooded with ghastly wealthy Rusians (BTW I'm half Russian, so I have no problem saying that) who not only forced up prices to insane levels but arrived with female (and often very young) "friends", if that's the appropriate word...and behaved very badly, to the point that the place was no longer suitable for a family holiday

    Well in the last 50 years the "SOF" has changed greatly and also has not. Just different people and times I suppose accounts for most of it.

    Of course when this boat was new it was a good size boat and Sultana her sister "Olympia" were larger boats. Now-a-days this is not the case and the size of boats has exploded... and the demand for berths increased while really the area to keep them has stayed pretty much the same but for very gradual increases. Sad to say I hate to see the changes these pressures create in the communities. IT CHANGES THEM and there charm as it was is lost.

    Right now the berthing situation in the "South of France" is if you intend to keep a boat in many of the prime areas you better buy (really lease) the berth before you go getting the boat!

    Want to flummox any broker... "I want the boat but first you better get me a berth."

    This is typical of the problems... its not just boats/yachts but tourist demands.

    For a long time now I have believed the solution is floating marinas offshore enough that they don't distract the sea view... then you could catch a shuttle boat out/in or use the tender. I think these floating marinas if they were well done a couple miles would be fine... Importantly, these would allow the small villages and marinas/port go back to a manageable and livable situation.

    berthing issues.

    I was aware of the moorings issue when I was last in the SOF and I imagine it hasn't got any easier .. some 15 years ago, I applied for a berth in Villefranche's public quay ...still waiting!

    Je me suis mariée avec une anglaise (ma secrétaire!) qui s' appelle Amanda Mai's c'etait a Paris a la marie du 6ème et mes trois fils sont ne en France .. .alors nous presque Francais . Et j'ai offert un petit "cadeau" a Noel mais franchement je ne sais comment ces transactions se font "discrètement"...

    Alto Volante has been renamed "TIKY", her original name. Coatings are completed and she is due to be relaunched on 18th feb after the 3 year refit and she is being coded for MCA CAT 2 . We plan to take her to the Mediterranean in April.
