    Never judge a book by it's obviously shabby cover ( paint)

    That tug has had a very mixed history and none of it has involved quality workmanship or materials.

    @RoundTheHorn Yep "Giant I" was sold and renamed "Legend". Being honest she is not a vessel I would call appealing!

    Perhaps she is now getting the quality workmanship and materials she urgently needs. She recently arrived in the Netherlands for a rebuild/refit and with the intention of putting her on the chartermarket afterwards.
    New owner of this vessel is also the owner of the very succesful 70m charter yacht "Sherakhan" which has previously been submitted to a rebuild as well. Hopefully they succeed in getting her into a prestine shape and remove her lack of quality. With a range of 16,000 NM she (or better he?) is truly a 'going-anywhere-vessel'.

    I remember when she was chained to the dock in Jax Fl many years ago (before Giant). From the fender rub marks, looks like she was tied up (extended) some where else.

    I assume your mails in regards to "Giant I" are older than 1 month? Everthing else would be strange as Camper & Nicholsons announced the sale of her exactly one month ago(20th December 2013).

    In 2011 we removed the old 12 v 604 Deutz and installed 3508 Cats for mains but the owner took the inexpensive route for gens and C-4's went in / basic Perkins that Cat branded and a horrible choice as they run dirty even when loaded and blow the rear seals @ 2500 hours or so but when you can buy an 85 Kw gen with the sound enclosure for forty thousand than I guess you can change em out along with your skivvies.

    Il Sole is the ex Candy Scape that the Candy Bro's re fitted the interior but not much more. Funny story actually, The new American owner bought the yacht "as is" no survey no nothing. Left Amico to sign the sales contract offshore and on the way back in the Starb. motor spun the main bearings due to oil dilution . The boat sat so long in Monaco that the injector pumps O rings perished allowing fuel into the sump. After forensics were carried out the Starb. main had 30 % dilution and failed so badly that it warped the deck of the block. Port main had 15 % and scored the majority of main bearings but was salvageable. Starb. motor was fairly new as it was replaced when the vessel was Lady Lola. Il Sole was loaded on Dock Wise and came to Fl. for the re power and residual law suites and hurt feelings. A simple engine survey and oil analysis would have saved this guys wallet a lot of grief.

    Thanks for the details.

    I know a few who were on it when it as C/Scape

    I was aware of the rough story when it happened.

    I don't think any of the boats that had that engine package gave their owners a very good long term experience.
