The marine industry has unfortunately lost another great. Hal was 89. Hal served in the US Army Air Corp, was an avid sailor, and became a Grand Banks dealer in Florida in 1977.

It would be interesting to read how many Grand Banks Hal sold personally in addition to how many GB owners are plying the waters today because of Hal and his brokerage company. I never heard a bad word about Hal nor his son Jay and I know they maintained loyal and repeat customers for decades.

Since Hal Jones & Co. pulled up anchor, 15th Street nor Grand Banks haven't been the same.

Fair winds and calm seas, Hal, you deserve them.

Although I never had the pleasure of knowing Hal, I am certainly well aware of what he meant to the industry and to those he came in contact with. You first made me aware of him and from there I read all I could find. There are right and wrong ways to conduct business and Hal certainly chose the right ways. As a result a special bond with customers was built as evidenced by one of the strongest and most loyal owner groups in the industry for Grand Banks. I'm sure a man who reached and connected with a customer base as he did, had other non business relationships that exceeded his business ones and friendships that endured.

Hal had a first class operation there on 15th street. Always enjoyed stopping in.
