Looking to buy a 120+ foot Yacht.
    Preferably a used one.

-A helipad would be a huge plus and a potential deal sealer.
-range : minimum 3000-3500 Nautical miles.
-speed: minimum 15 knots (Cruising speed), speed is a priority.
    -Delivery : by April 2014

I'm looking for a potential bargain (that's why I said I prefer a used one), yet I'd consider any other yacht if I find it worth the investment.

Please, serious sellers or brokers only, please, do refrain from spamming

Rest assured we are equally concerned about spammers therefore we tend to scrutinize posts from new members, especially those who claim to be London-based yet have an IP address that would indicate otherwise.

    Hi,

Here is one for you, if you offer the right numbers all yachts are for sale.

Yes, if you'll offer the right price he'll toss in the Portland Trail Blazers and the Seattle Seahawks. Although the yacht is about three times the length the poster requested.

Does bring up an interesting question though and that is does anyone have any property (note, I said property not people) that they wouldn't sell at any price. I think we probably all have some that is for all practical purposes not going to be sold, simply because our price would be so far beyond what anyone would pay. In business the question always came up fueled by rumors, was the Company for sale or might it be sold. My answer always was the Kiwi answer.

I had a friend who bought their home like that. There was one home on the lake they loved and the location couldn't be replicated. The couple living there said it wasn't for sale. He offered them 50% over it's value. They said no, but there was some hesitation. So he asked what they would take then. They thought and came back with twice it's value. At that point it was then clear they would sell, just not the price. So he got them down about 10% and had a deal. It was really the docks that gave it such value to him as they were grandfathered and under current rules would never be approved. Could always replace up to their size though.

    Hi,

    The OP asked for 120+foot.

I do not see any restriction on the maximum length.

Yes, while I didn't specify any maximum length, I do not want something that looks like "The Bismarck" or any other war ship for that matter.
If I could specify a maximum length, it would be something in the ballpark of 180 feet, but I'm very flexible.

Though I'll probably be getting a lot of personal use out of this yacht,
I intend to buy it solely for business purposes.

To answer your question,it actually depends on the level of emotional attachment coupled with the person's need of money.
I'm willing to bet my fortune on the fact that Warren Buffet wouldn't sell his Omaha house for a billion dollars even though its intricate value might be somewhere in the couple of millions range tops.
That's because Buffet doesn't need the money and a billion dollars wouldn't add much to his fortune (he's giving it away anyways), and because that house is of supreme importance to him and his family.

If you could offer him a trillion dollars though, the situation could be different.

Just keep going north, even Buffet would have his price (with enough money he could end world hunger permanently, for example).

Totally unrealistic, obviously, but the principle is sound.

    Which is it?

A lot of personal use, or solely for business?

As someone who owns a business and a few boats, I do not understand why you would intertwine the two. In fact I have never meet a person or family who buys "toys" for a business.

I think that it would be hard to come up with the minimum operating expenses and harder yet to turn a nice profit in the charter market.

The only thing that I do is run my staff through my business. That allows me to keep the staff under my umbrella, great for HR and health insurance.

    Oh Well,

    Bluefish,
You take a pretty big swing on the size, from 120+ up to 180. That size difference can range in price from $15M (Westport 130) to $37M for a 190 Trinity (like Mi Sueno, currently listed). At 15+ knots, not sure if you can get the range you're looking for, but will let those that are handy with a calculator figure that out.
Also, you need to decide if for biz or pleasure, or both. Want to charter it also?
I would guess for the dough it will cost you, you may have a few more details to go on. Your original post was, to say the least, vague.

What about a shadow boat. Not really Yachtie looking, but has a heli pad, plenty of toy storage, plenty of range, and should be able to do 15 knots.

I wasn't looking in as large a range as he is but looking for the combination of the ability to cruise at higher than displacement speeds plus have trans oceanic range, I was able to find boats that had both, but they don't have both at the same time. I found several in the 120' to 130' range that will cruise from 15 to 20 knots and that have a 3000 mile plus range at 10 to 12 knots. But at their cruising speeds their range is half of their economy range.

As to the business or pleasure, I'm guessing he means business as in entertaining clients, but I'm not sure. I also have no idea about the tax side of that outside the US. It sure is one expensive public relations route if that's his plan. Whatever numbers one puts on the annual cost of ownership for personal use, when you turn to entertaining it's going to sky rocket from there.

Exactly, I'm glad someone can finally grasp this notion

I don't think I owe everyone here a detailed explanation about the use of the boat as it pertains to the personal or business use of it.
I'd be happy to discuss this in private with anyone who's perplexed by the fact that I evoked the subject.
But in the meantime, I'd highly appreciate it and hold it in great regards if posters can refrain from hijacking the subject,
I think we'd be best suited discussing the technical side of things.

As I said before, I'm very flexible, partly because the price of the yacht is not entirely coming out of my pocket, I need something fancy, Majestic , something that would say a good word about my business.
I know what it's like having the IRS on your tail in the US, I don't have to worry about that, there are many tax havens in Europe and across the Mediterranean.

While I might be flexible when it comes to speed,I'm not interested in anything below the specified range.

Would it not be worthwhile in Chartering a yacht first to see whether your business plan works first before throwing loads of money at a purchase?

Perhaps something like Ronin? 190ft, 34 knots and a range of 3700 miles. Should fit the bill.

No, you don't owe anyone anything but when people are attempting to help you, knowing the use you're trying to put the boat to is important. You've gradually shed more light. You're going to show up, make your first post and then criticize and issue orders to those posting?

And my tax comment had nothing to do with havens, but had to do with deductibility of expenses. As to tax havens in Europe which isn't relevant as I can see it, but while most European countries have lower corporate tax rates than the US, most have higher individual rates or, at least equivalent.

You might go to Yachtworld and enter as I did, 110'-180', with "helicopter" in the search box. I came up with 19 boats. There are a couple of 164' Christiansen's that claim 4000 nm range at 14-16.5 knots.

If I were you I would get in contact with one of the large superyacht brokerage firms. Some of these firms are the following:
    - Burgess
    - Fraser Yachts
    - Camper & Nicholsons

The above firms have a very large inventory and will definitely be able to cover your requirements.
