Enticer and Freedom It's surprising how close these two restorations appear to one another: On another note, has anyone seen this wonderful Youtube presentation of the restoration of Freedom Restoration of the 103' Mathis Trumpy fantail yacht "Freedom" -- McMillan Yachts - YouTube
I was just looking back thru this subject thread, and wondered if anyone could come up with any other photos of that vessel in posting #42 ,.....or similar vessels ??
Pilgrim 40 Please don't take this as scariledge, but I can't help but think that the designer of the Pilgrim 40 canal-trawler certainly had in mind's eye these older Trumpy-Mathis designs when he created this design,....just restrained to a 40' foot length vessel.
"Angelus" formerly Showtime came to Kent Narrows for a visit. She's looking very well. Her new owner and well experienced Trumpy crew (owners themselves) are doing an excellent job with her care and upgrading.
Bernadette Bernadette, 1958 Trumpy Built in Annapolis Md 71’6” overall, Fantail type Twin 6-71 N Detroits
Bernadette's Bow Bernadette's Bow The pictures cannot do it justice. Hard to believe it is a wooden hull. This is a beautiful boat. I wish I'da heard/seen her run
Bernadette Sea Eric, Bernadette is across the bay from you, sitting quietly on a T head. Across from her is a 64 foot Nordhaven. The Nordy makes the Trumpy look almost like a toy.
Yes. I heard that she was at Chesapeake Harbour. A friend spotted her there. Probably time to head South soon.
Bernadette Yeah, saw her there. I have not seen another that is a Fan Tail in person. Hard to comprehend the effort to make that stern so sexy. Here is a comparison w/the Nordhaven. Sorry for the picture quality. You prolly know it is not a fairway you want to dally in.
Bernadette's Stern Camera phones are a blessing and a curse. In the sun, I am unable to tell WTH I'm taking a pic of. Here is a lame picture of her stern, still it shows the workmanship.
Here are a few nice shots of "Broadview" a 1958 Trumpy 53' Cruiser transiting Kent Narrows. She is currently for sale - price just reduced to only $92,900.
Older and younger sisters. Photo shot by Capt Mark - today Sept. 17th 2013 at McMillen Yachts dock in Portsmouth Rhode Island.
There are 2 in Bear Creek just outside of Baltimore, a 75 footer originally launched as "Polaris" now Celebration, and a 1940 67' once owned by Howard Hughes. I'll see if I can get some pictures.
Hi SeaEric, Regarding post #34, which may now be a trifle dated, I am wondering how that $50/k a year breaks down (for what I presume is East Coast). I currently live aboard abroad, and I see costs of a little less than that per year, but that includes a decently expensive berth and insurance in a high-cost city, and more brightwork than you can shake a stick at (but it also includes work at not sky-high prices). I would easily imagine living aboard when I move back Stateside and would love to take care of a Trumpy.
Trumpy & Mathews Eric, I'm sure you are aware of a Trumpy yacht for sale up at Piney Narrows yacht yard ?? She is sitting right next to a nice Mathews I looked at there.
Joe Bartram passing There is sad news to report. Yacht Brokerage icon Joesph (Joe) Burr Bartram, Jr. lost his battle with cancer on December 24, 2013 peacefully surrounded by his family & friends. Our hearts are heavy and Joe will be truly missed by so many people.
1925 Trumpy I am currently considering purchasing this boat and while doing some research I have found it is a Coast Guard Prohibition Patrol Boat. John Trumpy was hired by the Coast Guard to design these boats and I believe a total of 206 were built. This is one of ten built by Vinyard Shipbuilders in DE, and is the last one of the ten left. I have been told that after its service that Trumpy converted it to a private yacht but I haven't found any proof to that yet other then the house design follows his style. It is in need of a lot of work and I hope it gets saved.
