    Hi,

The valve covers are gone so someone has probably raided them for the Aluminium they are made of.

The castings are probably still re buildable and maybe some of the piston and or liners, depends on the salinity of the water. Looks like it might be an estuary by the amount of mud in it.

What does Nissan SD 33 have to do with your location?

I had a '86 Patrol powered by one of those and while a little slow on top end it was a great off road beast - Got a 4.2 Turbo Diesel one now

K1W1, your lucky. I've been trying to get one of the 4.2's for an fj45 build for a while. It could also do well in my old patrol. I love those engines. Didnt some old scouts get the sd33? If so, those were kinda gutless up high, but decent off idle torque.

    Hi,

The FJ45's I am familiar with are Toyota Landcruisers not Nissan Patrols.

If you want a 4.2 T for a Land Cruiser PM me the exact thing you want and an e mail addy and I will ask the boys at home to have a look and see what's available.

There are a lot of Jap imports in NZ so any thing is possible. I have a good mate who might do you a deal in exchange for some Blazer and or Corvette parts and engine bits.

That's correct, the 45 is a yota. I also have a patrol, 67 I believe, that my grandfather bought new. He would buy anything unusual, and no one around at the time new what a Nissan was. They went by Datsun until the late 70's.

I'm in the middle of 2 GM LS conversions, so I'm up to my neck, figuratively, in Vette and Camaro stuff. If you know people who need late model Corvette parts, I can almost surely find anything they need. I'll send a pm and quit hijacking this thread.

On topic, I hate to see an old Gardner rotting away. A timeless classic that is better than any modern replacement. When I start my boat, there is a good chance a pair of these will be in it.
