Great trip to Marathon Key with our Post 50!

We finally had a chance to make the run from Clearwater down to Marathon Key with the family last week, and get some fishing in (despite the remnants of TS Chantal messing with the weather/conditions all week). We did make it 22 miles out to "The Hump" and did pretty well with Mahi and Tuna. The boat ran like a champ and we were able to accurately calculate a 40 GPH burn on fuel....not too shabby at 21 knots!

Took my new baby home from Cape May NJ Saturday morning.

Nice ride @ 1750-70 doing a hair under 30 knots. Smooth ride, no spray on the bridge, we had an east, south swell 2-3's so the ride was easy, hit some rain but no big deal. Boat has 25kw/96 mile radar so no problem spotting other boats in the rain.

Fit and finish is great on the boat. We looked at 4 Vikings in our search and quite frankly I think the Post is equal to the Viking, maybe better in some respects, the engine room is much larger, the salon, than the 55 Viking. The cockpit is HUGE. We had 10 people in the cockpit and we could have had 10 more.

The electronics are next on the upgrade list. Garmin 7212 and 740s are in the mail coming this week. The older Furuno radar worked well, not sure if I need to upgrade that, we will see.

So far I am in love with my Post convertible.

Anyone have any pointers head them my way.

Good Luck with the new boat, by any chance was it a 50/53? I saw one on line in Cape May on Yachtworld. Very nice if that's the one. another question, are you replacing a 47 Post from Sandy damage?? I saw and actually looked at a 47 Post in Channel Club two years ago, but didn't bite on it, as it turned out it was lost in Sandy, and another Post was lost from Monmouth Beach while it was dry docked in Keyport, a 42' green hull. Just wondering. I keep my 1988 46 Post in Irwins Marina in Red Bank. But will be wintering in Oceanport Landing in the next week or so.

Actually as I type this I just remembered I saw you coming in from the hook in front of Wind and Sea, as I was heading out with my buddy on his cruiser. Awesome boat clean and sexy!! My wife said is that a Post? Even she has an eye for the lines of a Post. Well I hope to see you around, I assume you are at the Channel Club, I will stop by when I dock and dine at the Dockside. Enjoy!!!!

I came in around 12 noonish so that was me. Stop by, I'm on C dock. Look for the only 56 Post on he dock. The only Post for that matter.

The 47 did get trashed during Sandy. Left on the hard. Should have stayed in the water IMHO, but the owner got his money out of it. The 47 was also an all cracked gelcote boat. Terrible. Here is a link to how Post Haste ended up.

What a shame, glad it worked out for the 47 guy, and it looks as if you did very well yourself in regards to an upgrade! I will stop by when in the marina. Does a 50 Egg dock near you, the owner of toms Ford? He is a good friend of mine, Bob. I had heard of the Buhler Boat landing on the dock, by someone and I thought they mentioned Bobs boat was right there in the mix, but I may be incorrect.

Bob's Egg was 2 down from me and he did just fine. Right there front row for the show. And yes the Buhlership ended up on the dock and got totaled.
