Beautiful boat ... graceful for something so big. Did they say what power it has?

    Christina O

The original owner of Christina O, Aristoteles Onassis was also owner of a large whale hunting fleet. Therefore, his yacht was carrying trophies of those species. The bar stools of Christina O have a special and delicate history. These stools used to be covered with a special leather, made of the male genital of a sperm whale. When socializing at the bar and a nice lady was sitting on one of this bar stools, Aristoteles Onassis could not resist to inform this lady about the origin of this special leather. It was said, most ladies did not volunteer to remain seated :).

For me personally, nothing. She doesn't have a master stateroom balcony or stern beach that some of the latest yachts have. What she does have is grace and elegance which some of the later designs lack IMHO. Being a converted warship does mean that she is likely more seaworthy than some current yachts.

Just for grins I did a search on Yachtworld for yachts in that price range. Other than a second-hand cruise ship, the largest yacht in that price range was about 180 feet, some 120 feet shorter than the Christina O. Somebody with the necessary cash will be getting a really classy yacht with a lot of class and value if they buy her.

Beautiful yacht. I didn't know she was even still afloat. I saw her nearly 40 years ago anchored in the West Palm Beach turning basin. The city told Jackie she couldn't anchor there and Jackie said, "No, I think I can", and did. Her lawyers kept the issue in doubt long enough for Jackie to finish what the yacht was there for and leave on her own schedule.
