Like with homes, you also want to check the neighborhood where you dock your boat. The wrong neighbors can be hell.

Small town, small harbor, these folks did not have many choices on where to dock their boats.
I appears that ship NUC had engine or control problems and the captain had to talk to the local police force before he could continue the voyage, most likely a breath analyzer test.

He's powering up in forward from the start. It looks like to counter the push he got from that tug.

that would be a good commercial for insurance with the Mayhem Guy at the helm of the ship

Btw, looking at the lines on the tug, Is it possible that the tug lost power?

Some local papers carry the story, but all in the local lingo.

In a nutshell: The bow thruster was inoperative, hence the ship hired a tug to assist.
Also, they were exempt from having a local harbor pilot.
Looks like the bridge commanded full forward and Starboard rudder after they backed into the smaller boats, thereby increasing the damage rather than Port rudder and having the tug pull them to Starboard.
Monday Morning quarterback, but still, one should expect better maneuvering from professional mariners..

(Hope they were not Norwegians, but will find out)

It doesn't appear that there are any lines between ship and tug, so he was there to push. His position indicates that he pushed the stern out, and was not working the bow. I'm guessing that any radio transmissions would include 'get that f-ng tug away from my boat.' Otherwise I don't have a clue why he didn't get over to the port side where he could have done some good. It appears that the skipper was trying to get moving forward from the start, and the rudder was straight until they impacted. After that the rudder definitely went in the wrong direction. I'd say both the ship's master and the Tug's captain have some explaining to do.

If you have a Google toolbar you can add a translate button. Go to tools and then to options.

If you browse with Google Chrome the option to translate pops up automatically any time you visit a page not in your own language. Highly useful.
