I noticed that Roman has made his Yacht available for charter thro some company that cannot be right can it ??, He must be charging in excess of 1 mil pw at least anything less would be seen as a bargin
Charter I would suggest that most charter yachts are held in a corporation, specially for liability reasons. Many are also represented by management companies who will look after all the details of the charter including fess, etc etc..
Apparently she is for charter for "exclusive" clients. She definitely would be well in excess of $1 million/week as there are several yachts on the charter market that are one sixth of the size.
Absolutely correct. The yacht that I run can be found through a google search listed for charter with some never been heard of charter broker. My boat is NOT for charter, and never has been under its current name which was given by its current owners, nor is my vessel even properly documented and equipped to be chartered. I believe that some of these charter brokers have a program that pulls all of the large yachts documentation info and posts them for charter with no price to generate leads for their office. In any event, the company that somehow has posted my boat doesn't even have the specs right! GRRR.
Hi, I oversee a new build that has some very strict confidentiality surrounding it. It has recently appeared on a management Co's website where they offer it for sale or charter and also say that they have managed the build from scratch. They have had nothing to do with it in any shape or form. I have spoken to the Co's MD and been told he has no idea how that page ended up being available online even though it is shown on a website with his company name as the first part of the URL and claims nothing to do with it, he went on to say he has asked Google to take it down and it might take a few weeks. I checked a week or so ago and it now says the yacht doesn't exist.
"Eclipse" is indeed available for selected charters together with "Luna" too. The listing broker is Jim Evans from of SuperYachtsMonaco, locally based here in Monaco (as its name suggests).
Hi, You might also have noticed at all the boats show as being in their fleet for charter have a certain common thread. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes with these boats that is not readily apparent to the casual observer.
ECLIPSE makes waves in NYC As reported on CNBC Robert Frank, CNBC – 3 hrs. Mysterious Russian tycoon's mega-yacht makes waves in NYC CNBC The mega yacht "Eclipse," owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, is currently docked in New York City on Feb. 14, 2013. On Wednesday, a private yacht sailed slowly and quietly up the Hudson River and docked near midtown Manhattan. This wasn't just any yacht, however. It was Eclipse -- the largest private yacht in the world. And its presence is sure to touch off a frenzy of speculation about its owners and future. Seeing Eclipse docked off the midtown piers is the boating world equivalent of seeing a blue whale swim up the Hudson in the dead of winter. It just doesn't happen -- or hasn't happened. Eclipse's owner, the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, is famously private and averse to publicity. Eclipse is almost always kept in the rarified preserves of Monaco, Cannes, Portfino or St. Bart's, visible to other billionaires but rarely the hoi polloi. By docking the boat in Manhattan, under the gaze of millions and a horde of media companies, Abramovich is, to say the least, inviting attention. A spokesman for Mr. Abramovich declined to comment on the boat or its owner's reasons for being in Manhattan. But several dock workers and officials who have been briefed on the boat say it is scheduled to be in town until mid-April. Some speculate that Abramovich may be using the boat as a temporary residence, since it is more secure and can better accommodate his large security force than a New York coop or hotel. Abramovich's partner, Dasha Zhukova, has announced that she is pregnant, and due in the spring. More from CNBC: The world's largest yachts 2012 Eclipse has a crew of more than 60 people and a battalion of security cameras and sensors. It has two helicopter pads, two pools and a submarine. At 533-feet, it remains the largest yacht in the world. But it may hold the title only for a few more months. A new yacht, called Azzam, is being built for a MIddle East billionaire that could be 590 feet. © 2013 CNBC LLC. All Rights Reserved
According to AIS, she's moored at one of the old Transatlantic docks on 12th Ave, two piers North of the Intrepid Museum. Will be interesting to try to take a glimpse at her during daytime through one of the NYC webcams...
She was way over to the west side of the channel, to the point where I thought she was heading down to Bayonne for fuel. In fact I thought she was going to cross swords with the Staten Island ferry (never a good idea). Looks like the pilot wanted to give them a real good tour of the Lady in the Harbor.
She left the Caribbean in late Jan or very early February headed for Bermuda. I was very shocked so obviously Bermuda was just a hop to NYC. She is registered there too.
Thank you so much!! She doesn't show on the AIS at this moment, but it looks like she is still moored there : one can make out her silouhette in the middle of thsi webcam Pied Piper Travel : Webcam No place to hide...
Eclipse has been docked since Tuesday in Midtown West north of the Intrepid where the cruise ships pull in. I sailed by on Thursday night and snapped this grainy cell phone photo. She is rumored to have arranged dockage through April.
Some yachts are listed for charter only for tax reasons, expenses can be deducted. They are not really for charter, and sometimes fake charters are arranged to satisfy tax inspectors. Depends on the jurisdiction, but many differentiate the tax treatment of privately used yachts and the more business-like chartered yachts, which are looked like other businesses.
