Tsunami in Pacific

    Hi,

    Just turned the box on here in NZ and see a lot if advice by Civil Defence to stay away fim coast .

    Seems there was a big earthquake in Solomons thus Arvo

    Ok, gotta get to beach to see if this is real :)

    They are talking of a huge earthquake slamming into the islands so I wouldn't bother checking the story by going to the beach!

    Seems to be getting to be a very regular occurrence lately, or is it just that it is being reported more often?

    Hi,

    My beach going comment was in jest.

    If I were to go to the coast it would not be anywhere near sea level where I stopped to observe what was going on.

    The warnings have been down graded here with a warning about extreme currents replacing it.

    It is Waitangi Day here with a lot of beach and beachside activity in areas that would be hit if there were a Tsunami.

    Word on the news here is that several small villages were swept away and several deaths throughout the region.
