Last year, I fell in love with the hull lines of a classic lobster boat, it was still in service in Yarmouth Maine. The boat was built in 1960, by Baum boats.
In 2007, The hull had been completely re-planked, but the engine and cosmetic conditions were not so good to say the least. I bought the boat, and decided to transport it, all the way to West Palm Beach Florida, thats when the major rebuild began, transforming a commercial fishing boat, for luxury fishing and pleasure.
The project was a labor of love, we replaced literally everything leaving only the bare wood hull original. We installed; a Volvo Kad43 engine, Raymarine electronics package, HD fish finder, Blue Led under water lights, LED lights in the; cabin, deck, and pilot house, JL audio sound system, anchor windless, stainless steel plow anchor, and an electric flush head and holding tank.
The list would keep going on, but you get the point.

Bellow you will see pictures from the start to finish. Soon, the boat will be hauled out, In order to add a bow thruster and do minor work. I want the boat to be easy to operate, because I'm considering downsizing the fleet, and I own several larger yachts. Enjoy!

very nice boat, I think I have seen that boat in Yarmouth, might have been at Yankee boat yard.

The single windshield is unique, what made you decide on the single panel windshield?

Kudos for converting a classic crustacean into a cool cruiser! I've seen the boat around the North Palm Beach area. Looks good!

Beautiful work! In one of your photos it looks like the reproduction of Hemingway's "Pilar" in the background.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

RT46 - You very well could have seen the boat at Yankee Boat Yard, it was loaded onto the transporters trailer there. I decided on the single panel windshield, because I like the clean look, and it gives it an open feeling, which is nice.

SeaEric - Thank you, and you are correct, that is the Wheeler boat "Pilar". Jim Moores recreated it for Andy Garcia's upcoming film about Hemingway, our boats moored next to each other at Rybovich.

Congratulations! I love the juxtaposition of the Downeast hull with the more Floridian hull color. Perhaps you would consider entering her in the Ocean Reef Vintage show this December.

    Your boat looks great.
I have respect for anyone taking on a wooden boat and keeping her nice.

    Congratulations

Well, to be fully honest, on the night shot, I was able to make out the name , using a little picture enhancement technology :D

Still, the renovation is a lot more than "skin deep":)

Sorry, the Devil made me do it!

I also must say, showing off the wooden construction on the transom is genius!

    Cheers

    Hi,
So we pulled the boat out for maintenance, and of course ended up doing much more... We essentially installed a brand new drive train, including a new transmission, propeller, all new bearings and couplers, changed to a new style dripless bearing, then mechanical work on the engine, with lots of new Volvo parts. Lastly, we installed a wash down pump, and live well.
Its never fun spending money, but It's worth it, because everything works like new, on a boat built in 1960. With that being said, I have decided that I'm going to list the boat for sale. I have too many boats and some must go. I'll do a classified listing later on, once it's back in the water.
    Enjoy the pictures. Thank you.

    She's looking even better!
    Changing the name too?
    "Bow-tocs" maybe? ;)
Gotta love this cute little hull.
Point us to the right spot when she's listed...
    Cheers
    Jack
