Cracki - that must have been one big croc judging from its head, and a bigger fish to have eaten it! For some reason, I alway thought crocodiles were fresh water/brackish inclined?
Hi, The Salties as these things are known have a very wide range. They have recently been in the news for grabbing a couple if kids in the NT in Australa if my memory serves me correctly. I drove the Top End of Australia 20 yrs ago, these things were something we were always very cautious of encountering. Saltwater crocodile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi K1W1, As that was in St Lucia, S. Africa, then it was not a Saltwater crocodile. They only range in Australia and some parts nearby, like PNG, maybe Indonesia. It would be a Nile Croc, which are a bit larger. Not that it would make any difference while it was ripping your legs off! They both are the same cold blooded dinosaur. Personally, would make little difference to me if they became extinct, but I am just a typical "Greenie"! FWIW, I am inclined to conserve as many different creatures as possible but the amount of saltwater crocodiles up North is becoming so bad that there are whole areas which are now dangerous to travel, whereas 20 years ago they were not, and these are not far away from towns etc. Steve Irwin would not be sending me a Christmas card.
Hi, If they do ever open them up o hunting in Aussie please send me an e mail as I might not be anywhere to hear about it otherwise and put in a ballot for me while I work out if I should use my .308 ( recently reported to be the best all round calibre for NZ narrowly knocking the venerable .270 off its perch)or 458 Win Mag on them.
You’re on. Now we just need a good shoemaker, upholsterer and we may end up being the best dressed guys with the nicest Helm seats in Cook Town! Cheers!
This time the croc gets the better of the shark. A saltwater croc eats a ten foot bull shark. Bull Shark killed & eaten by crocodile in Australia
